Nestled between Galway City and the wilds of Connemara, the Connemara Coast Hotel is lauded for its scenic vistas and pristine cleanliness by numerous guests. While the hotel's rooms are often described as spacious with impressive views, some visitors have encountered problems with noise and temperature regulation. Despite the hotel's picturesque location with beach access, several travelers have called out the perceived lack of value, pointing to steep pricing and food quality concerns. Service is generally regarded as warm and attentive, although experiences with inconsistency have been noted. The amenities are appreciated for their comfort and views, but guests have mentioned limited dining options and less-than-hot breakfast items. The atmosphere is frequently characterized as cozy and welcoming, yet there have been occasional mentions of a shortfall in ambiance.

Our room was very spacious and had a lovely sea view. We received a further discount on booking.com with the genius badge so we were thrilled. The hotel is in an ideal location about 20 minutes from Salthill and it is located on the main road to Spiddal and Clifden.

Our room although spacious had a broken lock and had various suspicious brown stains on a pink carpet. However the bed and bathroom were superb.

There are no prices on the menus and they do not show a price per glass of wine, when I asked staff of the price, they were unsure. There is a set menu of 35.00 for 3 courses , but the steak instead of the usual €3 surcharge has €6.

I had 3 glasses of Malbec with dinner and when the bill arrived I was charged 8.90 a glass which is obscene. a standard glass is 4.90

Our breakfast on the second morning was a disaster. We waited 20 minutes outside to be seated, (which is fine as they were disinfecting the area). However after we ordered we waited 45 minutes for it to arrive and it was incorrect, cold and overcooked. it was a standard fry up and fish, others were waiting up to 1 hour and 20 minutes and when it arrived it was wrong, others walked out,

we had to request a late check out as we were still sitting at the table at 12. we had booked the table for 10.45 Others were told the breakfast would not be charged, we however did not receive the same, as we had paid before we arrived, I was very disappointed with this and did not bring it up with staff as they seemed very stressed by other guests complaining.

We spent 2 nights in this amazing hotel right after the post-Covid reopening and we are impressed by the great organization the staff demonstrated making sure all the regulations in terms of social distancing and disinfection were followed.
The staff is friendly, efficient and always available to assist.
We booked a deluxe room with an amazing view on the sea but the whole hotel faces the sea and you can enjoy the amazing view from the restaurant.
There are a few tables outdoor as well, right in front of the restaurant.
The location is perfect and well connected to the nearby villages and attractions.
Breakfast very good with Irish and continental choices.
At the moment, due to the situation, there is no buffet however the staff is always available to serve and assist with your requests.
The room was big and very very clean. We even had an espresso machine in addition to the usual kettle.

The lobby is lovely and very wide and you can enjoy a drink there at any time.

We booked this stay to unwind from these very hard past 4 months and I cannot thank them enough for the great time I had.

We picked Connemara Coast Hotel as we were celebrating 50th Wedding Anniversary, We were a party of six on arrival we were greeted by Nora who was friendly and informative and said she would be there to help us with any queries. We got an upgrade to a beautiful suite with an amazing view after we settled in Nora arrived with a bottle of champagne which was a surprise and very much appreciated. We felt very safe as the Covid regulations were enforced 100%, Sanatizer at all locations and tables cleaned and sanatized after each sitting. Lovely breakfast plenty of fruit juices cereals yogurts and hot food. One coeliac in the group they were happy with lovely homestyle brown bread and gluten free cereals. Dinner was very tasty lovely lamb chicken and fish. Enjoyed the bar menu also drinks served by very friendly helpful staff. Only downside was having to leave on a beautiful sunny day

The most disappointing thing about this hotel is that it could be really good. It has a very good location and site, tremendous views and a good layout. Most of the staff were pleasant and helpful.
However, the evening meal (included in our package) was simply awful, as bad as we've had. Breakfast each morning was poor and the staff seemed very disorganised.
Room cleaning was by request only (not the case in the hotel we stayed in the following week) and the porter was quite unpleasant when he had to bring towels to us. There were many other minor flaws.
The bar and its staff were nice and the bar food was good. This suggests the kitchen isn't able for the more elaborate menu in the restaurant. No excuse for the breakfast though.
Management needs to take a good look at how the hotel is run: the staff, most of whom were pleasant, deserve better and need direction.

Stayed here on recommendation from another family member and it did not disappoint. We booked an executive room with a sea view. The room was lovely with excellent views. It was a grand size for 3 of us.

All the staff we encountered during our stay were just so friendly and accommodating. My son is special needs and I had a lot of odd requests during my stay and they all just were brilliant in trying to help us. They really made our stay extra special.

Food was nice we only ate kids meals during our time here but they were lovely although a tad expensive they were huge portions. Again breakfast was delicious loads of choices but buffet style which was a big confusing during covid times.

We used the pool daily which was great we had to prebook which as easily done and suited us perfect. We had the changing room to ourselves each time which was brilliant so we could change at the lesuire centre instead of walking through the hotel in towels and robes!

The only thing that stopped me giving 5 stars was no air-conditioning in the room. It ruined an otherwise amazing stay. We had a fan but it did not help and there was no extractor fan in the bathroom so stale air just cirrculated constantly in our room. This led to me and my son both getting bad ear infections due to poor air circulation.

We will return though maybe in winter this time!

Myself and a friend spent one night in the hotel this month. From the beginning we were met by extremely polite and friendly staff who could not do enough for us. This hospitality continued throughout our stay and made us feel right at home. We stayed in a twin room which was spotlessly clean and spacious. Lovely view of the sea. Perfect WIFI as my friend had some work to do during our stay. Breakfast was delicious with a wide selection available. Staff again were very helpful. Pool is a good size with jacuzzi and outdoor hot tub. We made use of these facilities during our stay and were made to feel very safe by the time slots and constant cleaning that went on around the hotel. The only reason I do not give the 5 stars was unfortunately the food in the restaurant for dinner that evening. The vegetables seemed as if they had been sitting in the bamboree all day. Fudge cake was also extremely dry. Hotel and staff are excellent. Just a pity about the restaurant food that evening.

My friends and I stayed in the Connemara Coast Hotel for two nights last week. Unfortunately we were very disappointed by the service we received.

Firstly, there was no air conditioning in the rooms. This plus the poor ventilation as highlighted in numerous reviews above, made for a very uncomfortable stay. There isn’t even an extraction fan available in the bathroom, meaning that steam and dampness lingered throughout the day.

Secondly, I had a number of less than satisfactory encounters with hotel staff. When checking in, I was advised that the hotel rooms are only serviced on request due to C-19 restrictions and to call reception at any time to request the room to be cleaned. The next morning when I asked at the front desk if our room could be serviced, I was advised that this request could not be granted as I had not given 24 hours notice. I attempted to explain to the staff member that this was in contrast to the advice given to me when checking in and given that I had only checked in at 5.30pm, this would not have allowed for me to give the 24 hours notice. I was then rudely told “why didn’t I read the letter given to me at check in?”. I again explained that given I was due to check out at 9am the following morning, unless the room was serviced that day, it would be of no benefit to me and the other guests. Unfortunately the response I received was simply “I do not make the rules”. I do not understand how this rule can be justified in the context of C-19 regulations, as one would assume that maintaining hygiene standards should be the highest priority. In addition, given the warm temperatures and lack of air conditioning, surely fresh sheets and towels are a basic requirement for a comfortable stay?

Finally, in complete contrast with the hotel’s strict stance on adhering with C-19 protocols, the hotel are still operating a buffet style breakfast. My friends and I were horrified by the set up given that there was no monitoring to ensure social distancing between guests, utensils were being passed from person to person without being sanitised and a number of guests were observed not to be wearing masks. From having stayed in other hotels, I do not understand how the buffet style breakfast is still in operation, given the risk of transmission. This was less than impressive.

Overall my friends and I were very disappointed by our stay in this hotel and will not be recommending it to others.

My husband and I stayed here for 2 nights in August 2020 on our staycation. It is a lovely hotel, views from the back are stunning and thankfully we were lucky with the weather. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The room was a fine size but could do with a facelift. I had a very pleasant experience in the therapy room, and would recommend the Indian head massage. The food was hit and miss....more miss. Also, we had to request fresh towels and toilet paper various times on the 2nd day before we got them. I would stay here again but 1 night is probably enough.

Our family had a wonderful time at this Hotel. The rooms were to a high standard of cleanliness and the staff were generally very friendly, especially the Reception and Bar staff. In particular, we appreciated Trinity who made our meals in the bar enjoyable.
Our only concern would be our last day at breakfast when we were placed at a table in the centre of the room beside the stairways to the buffet, with many people passing back and forth which we felt was too close proximity with respect to Covid-19 restrictions.
However, overall we would thoroughly recommend this Hotel.

Pros:

Renovated rooms with terrace
Location
Young and friendly staff
Seamus in the bar is a credit

Cons:

Lack of air con
House keeping very untidy in corridors
Small bathrooms, even in a "suite"
Maze of corridors
Inconsistent interior design
Overpriced for a 4 Star, that is 3.5 in reality

At current rates, definitely not worth it. Plenty of potential, but Inconsistent presentation throughout the property is noticeable. Management should focus on doing 70 rooms great, instead of 140 basic.

Dear Lorcan D, Thanks so much for staying with us recently and for sharing your personal experience and thoughts on the hotel. We do appreciate the feedback. The hotel has gone through a lot of refurbishment in the past 2 years, and indeed a lot more is planned in the next few years, and we have been delighted with the progress made, especially with the stop/start mode that we have been in over the past year and a half. Thanks for the lovely comments relating to our staff and indeed Seamus. We are so lucky to have a hard working and dedicated team and we are so proud of them all, and thanks for sharing this. We do hope that we can welcome you back again soon. Best Wishes, Mícheál Lynch Hotel Manager

Standard rooms are angled towards the water, when we stayed, we saw some ocean without booking an ocean view room. For full ocean view, there's an option during booking for "room with ocean view" which has a surcharge. The rooms are described in detail on their website under "rooms" and during the booking process, you get the option to choose with or without ocean view (depending on what's available for your dates, of course). We weren't in our room that much though as there's a lovely terrace with ocean view and access to the water directly from the hotel.
