We dined at The Checkers to celebrate with 2 friends our joint 50th Wedding Anniversaries in 2016. We all loved the 5 course tasting menu, the fantastic though not overpowering service, the decor and the atmosphere. The food was without exception and in each and every course sensational. The platter of bread in its many delicious forms made us aware...

Our visit was a treat from start to finish: a warm welcome set the tone for the friendly, efficient but unobtrusive service that followed. Aperitifs and appetisers were excellent, the eight course tasting menu never put a foot wrong and the wine pairings were the best I've had. Many of the wines were not ones I would usually drink but...

We treated ourselves to a 5 course taster menu and stayed overnight mid week in February. Delightful hosts and staff. Beautifully presented bedroom and dining room and the evening meal lived up to expectations, as did breakfast. Montgomery, though small, is worth exploring for its historic buildings, dramatically positioned castle, impressive church and amazing Bunners hardware emporium.

Valentine's Day and my wife and I had booked the special taster menu at The Checkers, a real treat from start to finish, nine courses and at the end we had no room for the final offering of a French cheeseboard, with accompaniments. So many courses, each very different and all delightful, we shall definitely be back!

We stayed here for my husbands birthday and we were thrilled. Our room was beautiful. Lovely furnishings and little touches like fresh home made cookies along With loose leaf tea helps to make things feel even more special. Although we faced the road, it wasn't noisy. The bed was quite hard but not the worst! Check in and out was...

Fabulous food gorgeous people, highly recommend this restaurant and boutique hotel. It just happens to be in the most magical of towns with the friendliest of people. Lots of little shops and a castle on a hill to wander up to. We were treated to the taster menu and could barely manage to finish it was exquisite totally unforgettable And...

A mid-week taster menu and stay-over for two was almost impossible to better. Clean, comfortable room, pleasant, knowledgeable staff and fine French style dining at its pinnacle. We took the evening taster menu of 7 courses. Each a work of art, immaculately presented with such perfect flavour and texture combinations abounding, but still in sufficient quantity to satisfy. Absolutely perfect...

Our recent trip to the Checkers was a wonderful birthday treat from my wife. Although we spend a considerable amount of time in Shropshire, strangely enough we had yet to discover Montgomery. It is an absolute treasure of a town and deserves much greater recognition. A wonderful collection of stylish Georgian properties combined with a great pub (The Crown), a...

We stayed at the Checkers for two nights in August. Our room (Le Pruneau) overlooked the town square, but was very quiet. Although the room was quite small, it was clean, comfortable, and well-furnished. Facilities included wifi, a fridge, cafetière, tea pot, ground coffee, loose tea, fresh milk and home-made biscuits. The bathroom was airy with an impressively enormous free...

We needed to get away and slow down. Parked in the square, checked in, nipped over to The Dragon, quick wash...... Fantastic aperitifs (parmisan biscuits wow), friendly service, okay so I didn't understand one item on the menu, but clearly explained without me feeling foolish. Thank you Kathryn. White wine with a zing, green lip my favourite. Excellent food, friendly...
