We loved our overnight , got a groupon deal and it was fabulous. Yes the decor is a bit tired so if your looking for ultra trendy or modern then this isn't the place for you. But if you want cosy , romantic , friendly staff , sumptous food, comfortable surroundings , beautiful walks this is the place for you....

My fiancée and I were very impressed with the surroundings and the history of the hotel. When we entered the hotel we were a little less impressed! The service on check in was basic. The room (Aspen) had a lovely outlook. The room itself had a trampoline for a bed, a cold tap that went on strike occasionally and the...

We stayed for 2 nights on a Groupon deal .it was a good deal so we weren't expecting much . To be honest we were unlucky with our room ( chestnut ) as this room is small with just a double bed and we are used to a super king at home so we didn't sleep very well . Friends...

We stayed here when our friends got married on the 2nd of April. The hotel service was brilliant, wedding was fantastic, our room was very nice with tv that had freeview, tea and coffee facilities. Bathroom could do with an update but wasn't an issue. Breakfast was really nice. Wedding aside we really enjoyed our stay.

We arrived to 'Redwood' which is the 'honeymoon' suite - married 25 years it was lovely to be indulged with sparkling wine, chocolates, four poster bed and largest bathroom with huge Jacuzzi tub. However, the lure of the river Nith was too great for my beloved and within 20 mins of arrival he was fishing! Stunningly beautiful area and lovely...

This is a really lovely place with great staff. The food was very nice and the grounds of the hotel are beautiful. Yes, it needs a lick of paint and the shower wasn't great ( hence 4 stars) but it's only a 3 star hotel !

Pulling up to this beautiful building we were so looking forward to our stay. It's a beautiful building with fantastic surroundings. As we entered it was lovely walking into the lounge/ reception we were greeted by a lovely man who checked us in and told us where our room was. The lounge was gorgeous with the fire blazing away and...

One night break with dinner, bed and breakfast. Old building but clean, well heated and staff very attentive. Food locally sourced, freshly cooked and well presented. On second floor, unfortunately water pressure not too good so after one shower no water!

Given a Wowcher Voucher for xmas DB&B for 2 adults £69. What a great deal!! The entrance & surroundings of this hotel are astounding. Scenery, wildlife, historythis place has it all. Staff were so welcoming, nothing was too much of a problem for them. We arrived on the eve of a wedding and although staff were very busy they still...

This was meant to be a birthday treat for me, not too far from home, but somewhere that we thought looked really nice. What a disappointment though. The Friars Carse is a beautiful old building set in lovely grounds and you get an immediate sense of grandeur stepping inside to the lovely lounge area with its leather couches (rather worn...
