Stayed on a weekend for one night as had read good Trip Advisor reviews. The staff are very friendly and nothing is too much trouble for them. Nice idyllic location but very quiet; and if you are staying here you are confined to the hotel for the night. We stayed in a Woodland Suite - Room excellent, spacious and presented...

Would stay here again lovely hotel in a lovely part of the world, even though it rained for most of it. Staff were very helpful and pleasant too. Excellent service from start to finish, lovely finishing touches on arrival and in the room.

This place is timeless, charecterful and interesting. Modern convenience mixed with old fashioned charm. If your looking for ultra modern chic then this won't be entirely your cup of tea but if you want character, beauty and comfort you'll love it

A charming hotel on lake district with the most superb views. We had lunch there and unfortunately the food was below average. We ordered Ceasar salad, steak sandwich, salmon, vegetable pie, and aged cheddar sandwich. The cream tea on the other hand was exceptional with some fine scones. Made us forget the lunch we had. Service was a bit slow...

From the moment we arrived we were made so welcome. We were on a DBB deal and the evening meal was amazing (salmon with g&t flavours is highly recommended). Breakfast was the the Macdonald usual high standard and set us up for a day walking. The grounds of this hotel are fabulous and we even managed a walk down to...

The views from our room over Ullswater were breathtakingly beautiful. Staff were excellent and the food is very well presented. Could have been more options with the menu but the wine list was very thorough. Barman made an excellent old fashioned, 10/10!!
