Lovely, peaceful location, gardens could be better kept and used to better advantage - such a fantastic environment by the lake and with the views. Extremely disappointed with the restaurant food which was certainly not "award winning" or taking advantage of "local produce". Limited menu, badly cooked and presented, worth nowhere near £50 per person (extra for cheese or coffee). Individual members of staff polite and helpful, but service overall was poor. Not enough staff available for number of guests staying at hotel. Waited 45 minutes to be served in bar, 15 minutes to be seated in restaurant at allotted time, limited choice on menu (not as advertised online to view ahead of time via QR code in room) with several options not available anyway. Duck breast was like leather, Eton mess was certainly that - minus any fruit and soggy meringue floating in melted, poor quality ice-cream! No prices on menus ,signed for as zero at table, having been told that our meals were included in our package but then charged per item on check out. Extortionate overall price for stay which left us feeling that Macdonald Hotels are taking advantage of customers as it was not up to expectation. If food and service were up to scratch, I would have no problem and would return as it is a lovely location and we enjoyed the rest of our stay.

Very disappointed with this hotel's performance. Cooking mediocre, breakfast very basic and run out of essentials by 9 o'clock. Room fine, well serviced and clean. The gardens are neglected. The decor throughout is very tired and grubby. Very poor value for money

We had an amazing stay at MacDonalds Leeming House during Bank Holiday weekend. The staff and mainly Ryan Anderson were so helpful. Nothing was too much bother for Ryan who seemed to be everywhere ensuring guests had a wonderful stay. Reception and restaurant staff were highly professional and the ambience of the hotel is relaxing and stimulating. We loved our stay and the setting is totally magical. Would definitely go again and huge thanks to everyone at Leeming House for a wonderful stay.

Despite arriving only 4 days after reopening from lockdown and with obvious staffing level difficulties the welcome from reception and the manager (Ben & Cameron?) was both warm and helpful, which continued throughout our 3 night stay. My only gripe was the dinner menu did not change during our stay. First class breakfast though. Room comfortable with magnificent views.

JohnB -GB, thank you so much for this uplifting review. The team will be thrilled that you enjoyed your stay with Ben and Cameron overjoyed with the personal mention, thank you for that. Your understanding of our industry is indeed challenged just now with in terms of recruiting and team building but we are working hard behind the scenes in order to attract the very best talent to compliment the superstars we already have. I note your comment reference food and am again building a chef brigade and working with supply chain suppliers (who are also regrettably challenged with product levels) to ensure positive direction in regard to menu choice and variety. Thanks for taking the time to post up your comments, its much appreciated. Best Regards Darren

My husband and I spent a couple of nights recently at this fantastic hotel and had an amazing time. The hotel is set in the most beautiful surroundings overlooking the Lake and the staff were extremely friendly, helpful and professional. The icing on the cake was the amazing food prepared by the very talented Chef, Paul. If you are a 'foodie' then this is the place to go. All in all, we have a wonderful, relaxing time. Thank you to the team for making our visit so special.
