Here a few weeks ago for a swim and a massage and thought the place was fantastic. The massage therapist (Hannah I think) was awesome - I felt so relaxed afterwards! Great facilities, great treatments, really enjoyed myself! Staff were super friendly, even gave us a glass of bubbly!

I stayed recently for a business visit and I was so impressed with this hotel. The staff were so helpful and we were all made to feel very safe with the Covid 19 restrictions that were in place throughout the hotel. Sinead was amazing and so helpful to all of our team throughout our stay, it was clear how hard she worked to make our stay as comfortable as possible. She really is an asset to the hotel. Room service was great too !

My family and I have had a wonderful getaway at the Aztec West Hotel and Spa. This is the fourth time we have stayed at this hotel and we are never disappointed. The hotel itself is well maintained and hosts a lovely gym, pool, sauna, steam and jacuzzi. There are lovely relaxing treatments to choose from (I would highly recommend the hour long facials and massages). The rooms are clean, comfortable, modern and spacious. Again, I would highly recommend staying in the suites. There are open fires in the bar and dining areas which gives you that home away from home feel. The staff are just so wonderful, welcoming and accommodating. There are three games rooms for the kids which they thoroughly loved. Of course covid has presented challenges for every organisation but the hotel have put in place systems which allow guests to still enjoy all facilities. If booking a stay, I would advise calling the hotel directly to book your swim slots, breakfast slots, treatments and games rooms slots in advance. Every time we leave, we cannot wait to come back! Thank you Aztec West for making our stay so enjoyable especially during such testing times.

We booked a 1 night stay through secret escapes. When checking in we were given the option to leave a credit card to charge additionals to the room, or pay as we went along so there would be nothing outstanding on the account. Thank goodness we chose to pay as we went along! We ate in the restaurant on the evening. The food was average and we had a long wait between our starters and mains. My partner ordered the cheese wedge for dessert, expecting a cheese clearly stated on the specials menu but received something else. This was not acknowledged or apologised for by the server who quickly put this on the table. When we raised this with our usual server we were informed there was none of the advertised cheese left, and the dish was changed quickly. The bill came without our allocated £30pp deducted off and also included an almost £10 ‘optional’ tip. Although this had been stated on our restaurant booking (confirmed by reception before our arrival) we advised that we were on the secret escapes deal. The bill was altered and we were told that our food had come under the allowance so we only needed to pay for drinks, which we did. The day after checking out I received a phone call from the hotel stating there were two sums of money outstanding on our account. When I questionned this I was told one was for optional “gratuity” in the restaurant! The other sum (also from the restaurant) made no sense based on the original incorrect bill & what we had paid for drinks. Once I’d argued this I was told there had been a mistake “in the system” and we in fact owed nothing. I can understand one mistake but the fact they tried to overcharge us (and other couples visiting on secret escapes) on the night makes me think there is something more deliberate. We always check our bills & will question what we believe to be incorrect but other people may not be so careful or confident to do so. In addition to this the room was very dated and although first appeared clean the very dirty marked sofa made us question the thoroughness of the rest of the cleaning. We were disappointed with all aspects of our stay and would advise against staying here, discounted or otherwise.

We booked The Aztec the day before our stay as a last minute treat to ourselves, having not been away at all since March and feeling desperate for a change of scenery and a bit of fun. The booking was made through Secret Escapes, and we opted for the package with dinner included. On arrival at the hotel we felt that the reception staff were extremely pleasant and friendly, and were allocated a Lakeside room, which was lovely as it had a little balcony and a nice view. Had we been given one of the rooms looking out over the main road we might not have been as happy! The room was large, with a little living area, and we liked the fact that there was fresh milk and cold drinking water available just out in the corridor. The room was reasonably clean, and despite normally struggling to sleep when away from home we both slept really well! My only niggles were that the pillows were tiny and the room was quite hot even with the heating turned off and the balcony door open. We went down to dinner and were welcomed by a lovely member of staff - we didn't get her name, but she was very helpful, answered any questions we had about the food and drinks, and was chatty, cheerful and polite. We had some nibbles while we decided what to order - crevettes and olives - which were lovely, and opted for crab cake to start, which we were really impressed with. I chose fish and chips for my main and my partner had the slow cooked ox cheek. Both meals were hot, tasty and made with good quality ingredients, and there was certainly plenty of food! We didn't have room for dessert. The whole dining experience was a real treat for us - we are self-confessed foodies, and couldn't fault any of it. The atmosphere in the restaurant was lovely too. Breakfast was also a pleasant experience, and staff were again very helpful and happy. The food itself was not fantastic, but nothing specifically wrong with it, we just felt that perhaps some of the cooked breakfast ingredients were not of great quality. We booked in advance to use the pool after check out and were impressed with the quality of the whole facility and how clean and well looked after it all was, without feeling as though the environment was clinical or over santised. We had a lovely hour using the jacuzzi, sauna, steam room and relaxing poolside. Perfect end to our time away. We would definitely book again, mainly based on the fact that we felt comfortable and 'at home' in the hotel, and it had a really nice vibe to the whole place - nice enough to feel like a special treat but not too posh or stuffy.
