We have eaten here a few times now as my daughter and family have moved to the village. Food has always been very nice, a good portion and very well presented. Staff are friendly and welcoming. Good food for a fair price.

Last minute booking and although the room was small, it was clean, fresh and did the job for a quick stop over. Evening meal was delicious and breakfast was bang on! Hidden little modern gem. Tricky to get to and to be honest we stopped at a different black bull as we had typed the wrong a dress in York....

Stayed here on bonfire night to visit York maze. Pub lovely with great food and drinks. Homely fire burning. Staff friendly and very helpful. Paid £100 for a double room but I personally feel the room we stayed in wasn't worth it, the rooms are clean but dated, the lovely decor from the pub downstairs isn't reflected in the guest...
