Stayed her to meet friend from all over country and what a lovely gem. £60 for double room on a Friday night, really good value. We intended to go into York for evening but ended up staying by warm open fire and ate at the pub, it was really nice, my friends had steak and I had lamb burger which...

Last minute booking and although the room was small, it was clean, fresh and did the job for a quick stop over. Evening meal was delicious and breakfast was bang on! Hidden little modern gem. Tricky to get to and to be honest we stopped at a different black bull as we had typed the wrong a dress in York....

Stayed here on bonfire night to visit York maze. Pub lovely with great food and drinks. Homely fire burning. Staff friendly and very helpful. Paid £100 for a double room but I personally feel the room we stayed in wasn't worth it, the rooms are clean but dated, the lovely decor from the pub downstairs isn't reflected in the guest...

Came with my family for Sunday Lunch. Food was fantastic and great portions. Yorkshire puddings were enormous and puddings were lovely. Service was friendly and efficient. Nice decor. Will definitely return.

We were warmly welcomed. The room was clean and a good size, bathroom was small but very clean. Beds were clean and comfortable with good quality pillows and duvet. Breakfast was excellent. Great for an overnight stay... there was nothing not to like

Came for Sunday lunch. It has been some time since we last visited and I have to say the new layout is very good, light and airy. Given a table in a small alcove which was fine but just seemed a wee bit detached. Noticed straight away that wish so many customers coming in at the same time, the one...

Went for an evening meal, food was really nice mid to high end pub food. Woman behind the bar was a little abrupt perhaps just a bit firm but fair. Sat with drinks but had to order food at the bar as no one came to take the order not sure if you are meant to as no signs indicating...

This is a small place in a quiet village but only 7 miles from York. From checking in to departure the staff were friendly and helpful. The place was spotless throughout with nice rooms. The big addition is the restaurant. The food was quite cheap but home cooked and of great quality. Worth a visit even if it's not to...
