The location was perfect for our visit to Dodworth and free parking. We were a bit worried after booking then reading bad reviews. The young man on reception was very pleasant and informative giving us directions. The corridors don’t give the best impression but the room was clean and bedding was clean. A great shower nice soft towels. It is dated and needs a make over but pay low price you get less. We would stay again.

1 out of 5 is a complement really. Absolutely avoid this hotel. Bed sheets yellow. White stains on the carpet . Cabinets and furniture not attached to the walls (just broken plaster) Stained chairs. And a kettle brought straight from the recycling cente. The Only thing this hotel was missing was Basil Fawlty. Feel sorry for the staff that have to defend this dump.

‘A modern, friendly hotel’… Would not recommend this hotel to anyone. Upon arrival we checked in and first impressions seemed quite good, there was a sign politely asking to take off any muddy shoes, so we thought that’s good, they’re clean and care about how the hotel looks to their customers… Only for us to get to the room to find The kettle thick in limescale, mould stains on the chairs and an overall unpleasant smell. The family room had 2 beds on the floor for the children, one of which was placed under the radiator with no room to move it elsewhere..We went to reception to express we were unhappy with the room, only for the lady to explain it’s just because the hotel is ‘dated’, but it’s definitely clean.. Went back to the hotel room, pulled back the covers to find Blood drops on the pillow. Went back down to reception, was told they could give us 1 free breakfast, even though there was 2 adults, 2 children.. but there was nothing else they could do, out of their hands… came back to us to offer breakfast for only 3 guests the next morning. Went down for a meal with some friends before our taxi was picking us up for a family party, ordered our food all together on the same tab, only we had to wait for the pizza to come out, when 4/6 of us had finished our food. The taxi arrived at the same time as the last meal and upon asking for a refund was told again, it was out of the managers hands.. a lot of blame passing and not enough responsibility. Will not return and would not recommend.

We did one night to meet up with family Quality of room absolutely shocking When coming to unplug mobile phone. The wooden panel was all loose and wires was exposed. the divan bed was rips at the sides you could clearly see the springs the mattress was so uncomfortable the carpet just belonged in the skip complained to Reception was same member of staff that was in. When we checked in. If you went by first impressions, you knew what you was getting he was very untidy. Young man’s uniform needed a proper clean but when I went down to complain about the quality of the room to see if we could be moved, the reply was no rooms available. I did ask to speak to the duty manager who did come to see me. When I explained the problem we had either said we could either be moved into a twin room or just go to another hotel. This was at 10 to 7 at night. I did tell him I was under the impression the hotel was completely full referring back to the conversation at Reception as we going to another hotel. This was not possible. We was meeting my family for my parents 50th wedding anniversary and my father‘s 70th birthday duty manager said the only thing he could do and that is tape the unit to the wall so we could not see the exposed wires. I did ask if he was happy for us to go back into a room that was clearly unfit for residence you could see he was not bothered, we paid £100 for this room not worth £30 I did ask for compensation eventually after four weeks I managed to speak to the manager she was a very nice lady understood what I was saying and worried about I did tell her that her duty manager could not offer any compensation not even a glass of wine she did tell meall these rooms was going to be eventually refurbished, but even at the end of the telephone conversation compensation was never offered at all to us. Disappointing

This hotel is absolutely awful !!! Requested a cot to be told no cot was available once we got there . Asked for a family room the single Beds are mattresses on the floor right next to a hot heater , wouldn’t put my dog on that floor. The full 2nd floor absolutely stinks of smoke . Hotel is falling apart, covered in dust, holes in the walls, electrical faults, We had no hot water for 2 nights and was told be could have a free breakfast . Simply not good enough expecting people to sleep on a floor in 2024 !!! So unethical . Staff were so unprofessional however actually agreed the beds on the floor was disgusting . Cups were not clean and used. The fill Place is just vile ( the manager should be ashamed)

Room perfectly ok for short stay but could do with upgrade and there’s mould in bathroom. Waited an age for food in restaurant 2/3 nights, breakfast an absolute shambles, continental consisted of toast or cereal as no pastries or ham , cheese. salad etc first 2 mornings bacon was near enough raw and sausages black. Had to consistently ask for glasses , juice, bowls etc as so badly organised, because of issues with breakfast pink haired waitress became quite surly and not great service. The function we attended on the other hand was fantastic in the bluebell suite.

After checking in at reception to a lovely welcoming smile and very helpful concierge I made my way over the creaky floor boards to my room. As I entered the room, I was greeted with an incredible cold ambience as the window was left open. Problem would’ve been solved by closing the window, how ever this window did not close with ease. After a 5 minute wrestle with a window that’s probably older than I am, I finally managed to get it closed. Problem solved. I then noticed that once the bathroom light was switched on (in turn activating the extractor fan), there was an awful screeching noise coming from said fan. This lasted for a few minutes until eventually easing off. Again, problem solved if you could turn the fan off (you could not). Not a huge issue, unless you get up during the night to use the facilities and you try to get back to sleep straight away. I then decided to eat in the restaurant. I order the sirloin steak medium rare. The steak was served medium well at best. I ate with no complaints. I then ordered a warm fudge cake, to which came out dry as a the Sahara desert and tasting off cardboard. I took two mouthfuls and left the cake to sit there in the hope that a waiter/waitress would come to ask if everything was ok. After several staff walked by and stared at the uneaten fudge cake, 1 hour and 15 minutes later, a waitress finally cleared the table. Was I asked if I everything was ok with my desert? Absolutely not. Was I compensated for the tragedy of the fudge cake? Absolutely not. Would I recommend the restaurant for a decent meal? Unlikely. Will I be eating there again? Unfortunately yes - I am here on business and my company will not pay for anything more expensive. This review may seem very negative, it was not all bad. Just a few bad points that I personally find very irritating when it comes to customer service. Don’t be completely put off by one man’s review!
