A nicely located ibis right next to a Toby Carvery. It looks like it has been recently newly renovated. The staff were relatively friendly but it was hard to catch anyone at reception to speak to. There was never any staff at the bar and we were put off ordering food as it looked like it was all completely shut down. The room itself looked very clean at a far away glance but the floor was absolutely vile. It had not been hoovered or mopped for a while as there were dust clumps, hair, tobacco and plastic bits all over the floor. The radiator had dried blood on it and the desk had a smear of blood on it with the last visitors room card left there. The desk chair had suspicious white marks on it so stayed clear away from that. The bathroom was a really good size and the shower was clean and roomy. I know that were trying to save the planet but the fact that the last visitors half used toilet roll was left for us to use during covid times was disgusting and it went straight in the bin. There were hairs on the seat and what id say was dried vomit on the outside of the bowl. I always take cleaning products with me to hotels and anywhere i stay because of things like this as i am a germaphobe and had to wipe/disinfect the floor and clean the surfaces myself to feel safe on our stay. Other than the dirty floor and surfaces it was a pleasant stay, the beds were extremely comfortable and the pillows were lovely too. The blackout curtains were so good and the rooms were very cool throughout the heatwave. We were kept up until early hours because of 2-3 groups of friends/families staying at the Ibis who sat out the front of the hotel drinking being very loud and rowdy aswell as people and kids running about at all hours slamming the heavy doors. When asked to be a little quieter by another guest they laughed and told them to mind their business and go to bed. The Ibis staff did not do anything about the loudness of those groups which they should have seeing as other people are paying to SLEEP there. If you’re not bothered about germs or are a deep sleeper this is the place for you. Take cash with you as the local cabs only take cash not card and its near impossible to get an Uber there. Definitely recommend giving the market a look around in town too, some lovely stalls&food there.

When i was in the restaurant downstairs there was no staff anywhere and then when staff did arrive they didnt serve me. I had to seek our someone to take my order. Then the food come which was over priced i paid £2.75 for a portion of chips and had 7 chips. The pannin i ordered wasnt melted and looked like it was under for 30 seconds. Then in the evning at 11pm i tried to get a glass of cola and they said the bar was closed. They serve food 24/7 but not a glass of pop which makes no sence. I wont be staying here again. Not only for these reasons but the bed was very hard and i couldnt sleep. Very underwhelming stay one of the worst expwriances in a hotel for me.

Service at the hotel is shocking went down for food sat there for 30 minuets and no one came to see us then went up to ask and they told us it’s table service and we had to sit back down by the way we were the only 2 people their so don’t understand how it could take so long then we ordered food which was horrible and over priced payed 2 pound odd for 7 chips exactly and also if you fancy a drink of pop from the hotel you can’t get any thing at night time when the bar closes no drink machines nothing decently will never stay at this place again and would recommend that no one does

I have visited this venue recently and found on a regular basis that the male toilets had no hand drying facilities which is extremely important during the current COVID pandemic. I was more concerned over the safety aspects in relation to fire evacuation from the building. On the ground floor by the meeting rooms there are two fire exits that open outwards in to a very large car park. BOTH exit doors were obscured by cars parking immediately outside restricting the full opening of the doors allowing the correct capacity of people through in an emergency! I believe management are aware of the repeated issue as they have produced some white photocopies of signage. As a qualified health and safety person I suggest you look at both the issue of the cars and also the correct use and TYPE of signage and if you are to produce your own (but I advise against) please spell things correctly!! EMERGENCY is correctly written like this.

Thank you for sharing your concerns. Disposable paper towel is provided, I am sorry to hear it required replacing at the time, reception or housekeeping would happily assist. Regarding the exit doors, vehicles have obstructed the doors through ignoring coned areas and signage. We do endeavour to contact the owners of the vehicles directly or via the police & other local authorities, the owners of these vehicles are not necessarily patrons of the hotel. We will continue to investigate alterative methods to ensure these areas opposite the doors are kept clear. Kind regards

Staff very friendly and efficient. Breakfast was good. Rooms were comfy. Little bit noisy late at night and sounded like a dog was barking from one of the rooms. Other than that, it did the job for a one night stay.
