With a friend I spent a few nights in the family Hotel Ahorni. My rooms was comfortable, I even had a balcony. From my window I looked into the forest, just trees that said "good night" to me, when falling asleep quietly. The restaurant of ths small hotel was a surprise (we knew and liked the cook from other places at Oberwald) and the wines on the menu were not overly priced. The service was very attentive fullfilling all our special wishes (for example once I just felt like a bouillon to start my meal, and I received that, though it was not on the menu). The Hotel Ahorni is a good option at Oberwald - and Oberwald is a convenient place to stay, when doing cross country skiing in the Goms - the tracks pass right behind the hotel.
I recently stayed at this nice, modern hotel in Oberwald for one night. I was a solo traveler and stayed in a very nice double room with balcony. It is larger than your average double. Plenty of room for two. Beds were twin and comfortable. The room and bath had all the typical amenities, flat screen tv, writing desk, plenty of closets, the balcony had 2 chairs with cushions. Bath was modern and up to date. There is an elevator in the hotel. I took half pension, a 4 course dinner for Sfr 35 and was not disappointed. The service was impeccable and the food was above average. Not many alternative dining options in Oberwald anyway. So the food here was a plus. Breakfast was equally as nice, soft boil eggs to order, yogurts, fruit salad etc. I arrived by train and it is a 10 minute walk from the station to the hotel. Very quiet in this village at night, so good sleep quality is pretty much assured. All in all, I thought this was a very nice hotel for the price, good quality, nice owner, great service, I would gladly stay here again.…
The first evening it had a lot of guests and just one waiter, but an excellent one, that kept her calm and gave me the impression to bei an important and welcome guest. I had an excellent pizza with only one little problem: They offer not a single glas of Italian wine. The second evening it was half empty and another waiter, probably the owner, managed to give me as guest of her restaurant the impression to bother her in her private home. She did not want to take my credit card, as the day before, what is usually a sign of a greedy owner or financial problems of the restaurant. After this experience I decided to change my plans to try other things out of the interesting card despite the good kitchen.
Our second stay at this hotel (with a driving tour group). The rooms are comfortable and modern, the food is good and the village is delightful and photogenic. Best of all is the friendly service and I am sure that the tour group will continue to use this lovely hotel.
This was our first hotel on a Swiss Trails cycling tour starting in Oberwald and ending in Montreux. We arrived by train with luggage and bike gear which would be transported by Swiss Trails in the morning to our stops. We were a little dismayed to discover how far the train station was from the hotel and looked wistfully looked around for a van or a "cab!" Yeah, right... you're in the Alps. The walk to the hotel was at least a mile and we were exhausted by the time we got there . The hotel was a pleasant surprise: charming in a quintessential Swiss way with a delightful staff and clean, pretty rooms. There were even fresh flowers in a little vase on the nightstand! The chef was off duty that night, so we had a simple meal of cheese, potatoes, ham and a dessert in the very nice hotel restaurant . It was my birthday, so we orded a great bottle of Fondant and it came with some little chocolates! Lovely! Breakfast was ample and delicious. Our room with balcony looked out at the forest with the mountains looming in the background-- very scenic. The village itself is rustic and picturesque-- a great beginning to a fabulous trip!…
A group of us touring the Alps stayed here and, unfortunately, were very late arriving with the passes being closed and eventually having to put our (precious!) cars on the train - the Matterhorn Gotthard Bahn! Unfazed, the owner and staff dealt with us with great diplomacy and efficiency and a good dinner was had at a late hour by over 20 of us. The location is good, there is safe parking and our room had a balcony. We had a brief but pleasant stay.
A nice hotel in a charming little village in the alps. Particularly good if you're on a holiday driving - it is only 10 mins from the furka pass! The staff were really friendly and the food was lovely. Beds were very comfortable too.
Stayed here for the first night of our walking holiday. Room was clean and comfortable. Staff excellent, Dinner delicious. What more could you ask? Definitely recommended.
We ate at the restaurant Ahorni and the food and service were delightful. If you can do without a great view into the alps but would like attentive and friendly service as well as a good meal then I warmly recommend this place. It is also well-suited for families, as there is an extensive playground in the adjacent wood/park. PS: the app doesn't allow not to rate certain items. We just ate in the restaurant, my rating on the rooms is just a guess.
