Detailed Reviews
I'm reluctant to write a review of the Moiry because the hotel and Grimentz itself — long off the radar of major-resort goers (thank goodness) — are growing in popularity, and swelling crowds diminish the appeal. But the Salamin family deserve praise for running a wonderful, charming, very Swiss, intimate mountain hotel with an excellent kitchen. The rooms are small but comfortable, quiet and cozy, and the prices are good value. The service is efficient, prompt, and unfussy. The restaurant is a classic in its decor and menu, serving tasty regional favorites, from raclette to grilled lamb, and is widely known for its game: chamois and venison. One of the owners, Mr. Salamin, is a champion ski mountaineer and his cups and photos of his and his family's feats decorate the halls. On most days locals stop in for a coffee or a beer at the end of the day. The location is perfect: The big sunny porch, its tables having a view over the valley, is perfect for a beer after a long outing in the mountains, and the hotel is just a short walk through the stunning, ancient section of the village to the base of the ski installations. This place nails the Swiss three-star hotel bull's eye. My only real worry is what happens when good, local people like the Salamins decide to call it quits.

The hotel location is excellent, only a 5 minute walk from the cable car and gondola. The staff was very friendly and went to great lengths to find us a ski guide at short notice. The room was very clean and comfortable. We also ate in the restaurant on both nights we were there and the food was exceptionally good, highly recommended! Overall, a very good experience, we will most likely be back in spring

Sorry I don't know the word for Gemütlichkeit in English or French. This little hotel has some great rooms and a great kitchen. We stayed in the very small apartment which we were already warned was very small and it was but OK. 5 minute walk through the most traditional street you can imagine to the slopes. The management Andrea, and staff, are fantastic. There are three options for parking very near the hotel where we were able to find a spot each time. This town is a great experience.

After an absence of three years this classic Swiss restaurant still gives great pleasure. Service is friendly and helpful, and food is excellent. Classic Swiss dishes such as raclette are in abundance on the menu, as well as lamb kidneys, and delicious guinea fowl. Well worth a visit.

At the edge of the oldest part of town, this hotel offers updated rooms with views of the alps. Stairs, no elevator. Good breakfast. Good staff too. A great place for hikers on the Haute Route. Quiet at night.

Our dinner at the Restaurant of Hotel du Moiry was the best meal we’ve had in 13 years of coming to Grimentz for ski holidays!
Head chef Antoine Ménard orchestrated a delicious meal for each of us, with high quality ingredients, imaginative combinations of flavours and textures that go together well, all deliciously prepared, cooked to perfection, and served in generous and aesthetically appealing portions. Among us we tried the éminçé de chamois aux morilles, the medallions of beef and of deer, and the coquille d’agneau. The desserts and starters were also delicious and varied, especially the festive menu starter that involved St. Jacques and foie gras, prepared in an interesting and succulent way.
In the early years of our visits to Grimentz we had tried all of the local restaurants and had found them mostly OK to disappointing, so we tended to mostly self-cater, but this year we decided to try a proper restaurant meal here again, and we are so glad that we did that at Hotel du Moiry! We will definitely be back.

Excellent table service, beautifully good and well presented triad meal and very kind and courteous staff. I loved the wildlife pictures all over the hotel. And I'm asthmatic, I've put up with your fireplace because no smoke smells. Thanks.

Very cozy family hotel, well located for skiers in the old village center.
The food and atmosphere are excellent. The boss personally made raclette over a wood fire. You have to try it.
Tip: store your skis at the cable car station for CHF 30.00 for a week with top service.

We had a wonderful holiday in your beautiful hotel. The Chalet de Mayen is a simple jewel - with cahrme and some luxury (3 sinks, a large balcony, total calm ...).
Breakfast is extremely varied and hearty. There was even applesauce with cinnamon. The dinners are phenomenal: delicious and magically presented with lots of flowers and all colors.
Thank you very much; we will be back!

The bathroom linens lack a little softness...this is a slight detail in the comfort of the room. Very well stocked breakfast. The à la carte dishes are very well presented and served.
Thank you to all your staff for their welcome
