Wonderful place, very kind service and lots of activities for kids. The environment is beautiful with lots of exotic nature and flowers. The big highlight for kids was the room with the little house. Kids had a lot of fun and we will surely come back!
I’ve been to Ticino a couple times and this hotel is a gem, it’s the hotel to stay at. Well-located, right next to the river but still very central. Courteous, efficient and welcoming staff. The room was very spacious, clean and comfortable. The facility is lovely with a large pool, the kids loved splashing around all day. It also has a volleyball court and some ponies, there is something for every age-group. My wife and I enjoyed playing golf on their golf course, but the only downside was, that they mowed the lawn early in the morning. But at least we were awake, and we had more time to enjoy our stay to the fullest. I highly recommend this hotel, especially if you’re travelling with your family. Keep up the good work!!
Even by Swiss standards this hotel is relatively expensive, but it looks extremely shabby and rundown and has more of a 2 star feeling in some respects. Our room was definitely in need of renovation at least 5 years ago. I was very disappointed by the complete lack of any distancing concept in the restaurant. Our breakfast table was jammed in so closely to the neighbouring table that the chairs were touching. Clearly there was no overall safety attention and this did not create a feeling of comfort. Restaurant staff were rude and unhelpful, especially when they claimed no knowledge of our table reservation which we made at the time of booking and which we reconfirmed on arrival. One of the worst value for money experiences we have had.
We made a last-minute decision to chase the sun and ended up at Albergo Losone. Hotel has good ambience, gorgeous grounds and the front-desk staff are friendly. Nice rooms, and the kids loved the Hüslizimmer. Heated area of the pool was pretty small, so the kids didn’t spend as much time there as I expected. Kids loved the playground & indoor play area. Great bike rides in the area. If you bring your own bikes, make sure to bring your own locks as well. We parked ours in their bike garage and someone “borrowed” our youngest’s bike. Once we finally got him calmed down, we figured “shame on us” and borrowed a lock from the hotel. Chained our two kids’ bikes together but when we went to get them the next morning, the chain was gone and someone had been riding the youngest’s bike again. Thankfully they brought it back before we needed to leave. All-in-all a nice stay, but much lower value-for-money versus other kids hotel’s we’ve stayed at. Nearly twice the cost of Alpenrose in Austria, with much smaller kid’s play areas/pools, spa can’t even begin to compare (Bit much calling what the Alberto offers a spa), and MUCH higher food & drink costs. We racked up an astounding 1000 in food & drink in just two nights with four adults. Swiss prices are high, but that’s a bit extreme - and three of us would’ve eaten cheaper a la carte than we did with the half-pension pricing. At least we enjoyed the sun, but next time it’ll be back to Austria. …
This is a great place to stay if you have Toddlers. There are so many nice things for them to do, apart from the nice pool. There is a go-cart track, a playground with a train, and also an indoors playroom. And every day they have kids activities, e.g. pony ride, games at the pool etc. Sometimes they have kids movie night. And you can actually leave the kids with the Junior club, where they have professional supervision. The rooms in the hotel are all on ground level and very spacious. All of them have a small terrace. We also liked the fact that you can rent bikes (for free). Some of them have children seats. And Ascona and the Lago Maggiore are only about 10 min bike ride away. The breakfast buffet has plenty to offer: eggs, bread, juices, cereals and yogurt, cheeses etc. The only thing we didn’t enjoy at the Albergo Losone was the dinner. Not a lot of choice and too really expensive for what it was. Plus the food was not up to the high standard of the hotel. So overall excellent, kid-friendly which makes it parent friendly. Just the dinner needs to improve.…
This hotel is fun. It invites you to unwind the moment you step through the front door. The warmth of reception staff make you feel immediately at home. Susana & Leo on reception were very helpful. The colourful, quirkily decorated lobby/lounge/bar area immediately let you know you are in an unusual hotel. For people looking for an active holiday like ourselves, the hotel offers excellent bikes of its own, plus acts as a base for Eurotrek cycling tours. The cycling/walking routes are signposted with easy to follow coloured symbols. It is about as far from a bulk standard hotel that you can find. Run by the charismatic Diego Glaus and family whose railway worker father once started the Albergo with just two humble rooms many years ago. It has been greatly added to over the years, yet somehow all these different hotel parts blend happily together. The hotel offers a myriad of accommodation not obvious from the website. Whilst our standard rooms were definitely in need of the planned refurbishment, the owner and friendly, efficient staff have thought of almost everything to make your stay comfortable & enjoyable. We were surprised not to find shampoo and conditioner in the room. Take your own! Whilst our standard room was comfortable & spacious with a terrace, it needed updating so if you are very particular, ask for a refurbished room. I wish we had! Leisurely breakfasts overlooking the pool were the highlight. An excellent buffet with ever-present staff keen to assist in any way. Ann Catherine was especially helpful. We booked half-board as the hotel assured us they could offer vegan food. By the end of the week, they definitely could. The sous-chef in particular created a couple of outstanding meals that were both creative and delicious. Bizarrely the hotel also doubles as the Norwegian consulate in Ticino. Overall it is a unique base to relax & enjoy Ticino. Switzerland is expensive however if they had a particularly good offer, we would definitely be more than pleased to return.…
First the positive things: the hotel offers a great child care club with very motivated animators. So the kids are happy and never want to leave the hotel. Also, the hotel offers free bicycles with which one can easily reach Locarno or Ascona. And the personell was not in a any way unfriendly. Nevertheless, we parents felt very uncomfortable because the hotel lies in an industrial zone and is stuffed with an eclectic and tasteless mix of toys and design elements. The food is mediocre and the service was very impersonal. Maybe the presence of an owner or host could have compensated or explained the strange setting. Also, everything seem rather cost-optimised e.g. no extra pool towels. All in all, the kids loved it and we parents longed to leave as quickly as possible. The price of CHF 1'000 per night for two adults and three kids seemed not in line with other premium hotels like for example the Valbella Inn which is part of the same label "Swiss premium family hotels".…
We stayed during our summer holidays at this unique and cosy place. A perfect retreat for families with lots of amenities and a full kids daycare from 8am to 10pm. Food is delicious and dogs are very welcome!
Being almost every week in TICINO for my job, I can say that the Albergo Losone is a hotel with a astonishing quality of life with outstanding service, its staff is entirely dedicated to your well-being. After the day you can enjoy a drink beside the swimming pool benefit of many other small details which make your life easier. Their staff member know Ticino by heart and advise you always the good place to eat, to visit etc...Thanks to the staff and its direction to maintain a such never ending quality process, BRAVO!!!
Our stay at Albergo Losone has been simply fantastic, way above our expectations. Friendly, polite and smiling staff. Topped by a kind and ever present owner, Diego. Extra ordinary food, and probably the best breakfast we’ve ever eaten. The room was very spacious and inviting with all those small details that just makes it. The hotel and its garden area is exciting to explore. Walk around and be amazed! We recommend The Ticino Experience - funny and well tasting. Make time and visit this wonderful oasis, you are worth it. From two very satisfied guests. Catharina and Kristian Erik Øvermo
