We only stayed one night but Torridge House was a perfect retreat. A lovely building and the room was great, tastefully decorated with an extremely comfortable bed. Tea and coffee making facilities with a wide variety of teas and cookies and fresh milk. Plenty of books and CD player. I liked the fact there wasn't a telly in the room.... More

Torridge House is quietly located in one of the old streets a few minutes away from the Quay. From here you can just enjoy strolling around enjoying the ambiance of old-world Appledore, or use the house as a base for exploring the North Devon coast or visiting the nearby gardens of RHS Rosemoor, Marwood, Docton Mill etc. The b&b is... The smell of freshly baked bread greets you as you walk downstairs and enter the conservatory dining room. With a choice of freshly made fruit salad, a wide variety of cereals, figs, dates and seeds you are given a taste of things to come. I opted for the full English on two of my three mornings and enjoyed every mouthful.... More

Me and my partner stayed here for only 1 night but wish we could've stayed longer!! The rooms are very clean and nicely decorated, lots of space and tea and coffee and biscuits for when you arrive. The bed was comfortable and location perfect, right near the water and only a very short walk from local pubs and restaurants. My... More

Just the perfect end to 10 days walking. Lovely host, nice room and bespoke breakfast with eggs Cannot recommend it enough. A perfect place to explore Appledore from and beyond. Long stay car park just around the corner is very cheap. Andy and Sara Dennis

We stayed at Torridge House for two nights at the end of May and it was an all round lovely experience. The House is well located in the heart of the characterful village of Appledore and has a very distinctive and welcoming décor which makes you feel at home as soon as you step inside. Penny is an excellent host... More

Torridge House is situated in a quiet street a few paces back from the Quay. We arrived tired and not a little filthy after a long walk, and Penny made us so welcome. The house is very unlike a run of the mill B and B - much more akin to staying with a friend who has thought of everything... More

What a super place to stay in the charming unspoilt old port of Appledore.Penny had thought of everything to make us feel at home and comfortable. Our room was nicely decorated with some hand painted murals. The bedding was of an excellent quality. We sat at a lovely old kitchen table with other guests in a light and airy room... More

A beautiful B&B in a quirky cobbled street in breathtaking Appledore. Penny's superb organic, locally sourced breakfasts were a hearty joy, setting us up for the day ahead. The four-poster bedroom is both elegant and comfortable, and we slept soundly in this relaxing, book-filled room. While the breakfast room is a lightful delight. Can't recommend enough and would love to... More
