The only negative thing about the hotel was that you could hear the music from the bar in our room, which was the family room (1 dbl bed and 2 sgl) but that finished by around 11 and it wasn't particularly intrusive. The room was well appointed and spotlessly clean with ample towels and toiletries as well as plenty of... More

Simply the best B&B we have ever stayed in. We were celebrating our 31st anniversary with a motorbike holiday, and we discovered this utterly delightful, traditional Welsh pub which has only a few bedrooms. Ours was beautiful, with old beams and a skylight through which we could see the Milky Way in the clear skies of mid-Wales. The food was... More

This pub is a hidden gem. If you can find Pontyventrecaid - (I can't even spell it right- it's pronounced : "Pontyventroguide") Then stay at the Red Lion. The pub is a normal pub with Normal Beer- but that's it. The food is simple but very good. I would say excellent- but I don't want to raise expectations too much-... More

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here, albeit for one night. The room was quiet, comfortable and spotlessly clean with a comfortable bed. It had great character with exposed beams and nice views of the nearby hills. There were all the usual comforts, such as tea and coffee making equipment and shower cosmetics (shampoo, etc.). The food was good and plentiful,... More

Was a little nervous about going to this hotel, only because I didn't know of it, and it was in the middle of nowhere. I shouldn't have been worried. Our room was beautifully made up, and we had a great dinner and breakfast here. Despite being a pub, the rooms were quiet and private, and the staff helpful and friendly.... More

We were attending an Open Day event at Aberystwyth University and were looking for somewhere to stay overnight ready for a "earlyish" start. The Red Lion proved perfect and good value for money. They were quite happy for us to arrive at 10:30pm, gave us a warm welcome and immediately showed us to our two comfortable, nicely decorated, clean and... More

Very nice spacious and clean rooms. Good breakfast, comfortable beds. There was a welcome pack, a map with all the information you need: doctor's, dentist's phone numbers and addresses, local facilities information, maps, etc. Really thoughtful!

A night in room 6 was a pleasant surprise, the recently renovated room was great. The open beams add character and even though they close a little of the space they give much more than they take. The staff were very helpful allowing me an early check in, the room was very well presented and clean. After a night with... More

The room was clean however it was far from luxurious. the bed had no topsheet and the Duvez did not have a separate cover, there was not a chair to sit on for my wife to do her hair/ put make-up on she had to kneel on the floor! The kettle had to be filled using a water glass and... More

Stayed one night in room one. The room was a family room with a double and single bed. The room was clean and well presented, with a reasonable, if somewhat small onsuite. However, the double bed was uncomfortable, it sloped from top to bottom. There was no mattress cover. The evening meals were nothing special but the breakfasts were quite... More
