We stayed one night at the Trooper after our daughter's wedding. Our room was really good ,well appointed, clean and comfortable. We didn't use the bar for drinks due to the wedding but had a good breakfast there in the morning. Much recommended .

Wow what can I say. One night stay, beautiful cosy bedroom with huge windows overlooking the fields, what a treat to wake up to. The food in the splendid bar/restaurant was top notch, best I've had in a pub for yonks. Absolute quality, can still taste the bread and butter pudding. And the staff were fantastic too, so friendly, loved talking to the Persian chap about the fascinating history of the place. Slept like a log, if all pubs could be as good as this little, hidden gem.

A delightful stay at a good unpretentious English pub, with fine, efficient friendly, service, serving good breakfasts, with lovely views across Hampshire countryside. The reception manager, Jess, was thoughtfulness personified, attended to our various requests and needs courteously, unfussily, and promptly, throughout our two night stay.

Nice rooms, very well maintained and really good decor. Staff very good and breakfast was excellent. We'll looked after. Would certainly if I was in a holiday book the Trooper Inn. They have a different entrance for B&B to the pub. Local real ales on the bar. Plenty of garden area and benches.

We have used the Trooper before, when having works done on our house, and we have put up the workmen in the Trooper, knowing they could get themselves a good dinner and have a hearty breakfast after a good nights sleep. This was before covid when Hassan owned it. The same workers are back with us now, so naturally we booked them in the Trooper. This morning I was shocked when they told me that the bar and restaurant was closed. So they had to drive around looking for somewhere to eat last night, not easy when you’re in the middle of nowhere and don’t know the local area and even worse there was no breakfast for them this morning. So I am now cooking them breakfast before they start work. Looking at the website it says the bar and restaurant doesn’t open until Wednesday lunchtime, so I guess I will be providing dinner and breakfast for them tonight and tomorrow. At no time when booking the rooms were we told there would be no breakfast and no bar/restaurant open to get an evening meal. It is pretty poor to offer B&B and only provide the bed!!!!! Very disappointed and will not be using the Trooper again!!!!

Hi Jules, perhaps you would be so kind as to contact me directly on 01730 827293 to discuss your booking. I can not identify your workmen on my booking system. Every confirmation email does state our bar and restaurant opening times. I am sorry if you missed this information. Hopefully speak soon. Regards Malcolm

Stayed here after a very long days cycling. Malcom our host could not have been any more accommodating and genuinely big hearted. We needed food and couldn’t get a taxi into the local Indian So he suggested a delivery and even though he’d shut the kitchen and bar for the day he let us eat inside at a table when he’d already cleaned up and set for breakfast and made sure we had enough beers to keep us happy. The rooms were really comfy and the full English breakfast next morning sent us off with enough energy for the days cycle. Would happily come back and buy Malcolm a beer.

We stayed here prior to catching a morning ferry from Portsmouth and would happily do so again. Friendly staff, good food in the evening and at breakfast, great beer, a good night's sleep and lot's of parking. What more could you want? Everyone was working around the Covid-19 restrictions but we always felt quite safe and secure. We would happily stay here again the next time we are sailing from Portsmouth.

Stayed with friends at this lovely Inn - very welcoming on arrival. Booked a table for a meal in their busy bar - there was a large birthday celebration being held, but that didn't deter from the level of service we received by all the attentive staff. Meal was fantastic and good value and owner was very helpful, without being over bearing. Would love to go and stay again one day. View from bedroom was lovely!
