Having lived in Indonesia for almost 10 years My partner and I have visited many wonderful places and the beautiful little Selayar Dive Resort goes right to the top of our list for many reasons. Before I start my rant about how awesome this place is lets first start by offering some general information: Selayar Dive Resort is located on...

The resort, situated on the southeast side of the island Selayar, offers good dives but never more than almost exactly one hour. A little bit short for experienced divers and you have still air enough in your tank. Generally the dive spots are so nearby that you almost can go directly from the Beach. The best of the three diveguides...

Stayed at Selayar Dive Resort this season, for the positive, the location is special, one of the only resorts on the island. The white beach is beautiful, the clear blue water with the jungle in the background. The bungalows are large and the private bathroom is clean. There is a balcony where you can hang your hammock, this is very...

We have been to Selayar Island at the beginning of March 2016. After a warm “military-style” welcome-speech of the owner Jochen, who is a superb host, we were guided to our traditional bamboo hut with a coconut husk roof including a wonderful private beach just in front. The view from our bed was astonishing. The dive sites are amazing. You...

My wife and I booked two weeks at Selayar Dive resorts after spending four weeks of diving on a live-aboard in the Molluccas. Our idea was to have two relaxing weeks in the resort with some diving. It turned out differently : we had two relaxing weeks with a lot of excellent diving. The cottages are very nice and separated...

Traveled the distance to Selayar was well worth the trip! It took me about 3 minutes to get used to the idea of having unreliable phone reception and poor internet! What a great way to relax and just relax, dive, sleep, read a book and EAT! Oh my goodness did we eat! This is one of the most remote places...

I spent a week in Selayar Dive Resort with a friend in March for a diving holiday. Only 8 bungalows on a beach, you feel like you're in the middle of nowhere in paradise. Diving is great, mostly wall dives, had great encounters with eagle rays, sharks, great barracuda... And if you're looking for macro, it's the right place to...

My husband and I visited Selayar in December last year and our nine days there were superb! It is truly amazing what Jochen has created in such a remote part of the world. It goes without saying that the diving was wonderful with beautiful reefs and critters. The dive guides and boat crew were really a stand-out for us. The...

I had the privilege to be the first American visiting Selayar Dive Resort, and my expectations of the facility were matched only by the exceptional diving area. The facilities were basic and comfortable, the food was exceptionally good and the staff endeavored to accommodate every diver's needs. The owner of the resort, Jochen, proved a lively, gregarious and knowledgeable man...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
We made a special effort to conserve the natural beauty of the surroundings and integrate the resort into the marvellous scenery of our one kilometre long white sandy beach. The resort can only be reached by boat. From the open sea as one arrives, the landscape and rain forest show off their natural beauty. Only when really close in to the shore, is it possible to identify the eight bungalows between the trees – all built in a respectable distant from each other. ... more   less

“All bungalows are gorgeous - some closer to the restaurant & dive centre than others. Depends what you want. Our was the most southern one on the beach. We enjoyed the walk to and from the restaurant. Others might prefer to be closer. Returning to our bungalow on New Year's eve using torchlight, we almost tripped over a turtle digging a hole to lay her eggs. What a way to start 2014!”
