Ideal place to read after a day of work with relax area sauna etc also very silent in case you need to work the whole day from the hotel. Also good value for money. Restaurant is beside me is also quite good
Stayed here for one night when I was in the area for business. I really liked this hotel: kind staff, nice bar and restaurant, spacious room, good bed. Also the price was good, surprisingly low. I would definitely stay here again.
A very cost clean and neat hotel. We visited while on a business trip. There is a parking lot right in front of the hotel. It's quiet, staff is friendly. Rooms are very clean and breakfast was satisfying. The internet connection in my room didn't work well but other than that I am definitely visiting again.
Stayed at the Zum Zollhaus between 22-24th January 2016, we have friends in Rastede, it was a major birthday for one of them and we were invited. This is the second time we have stayed at this hotel (first time March 2013), I recommended the first time and I would recommend it again. The hotel itself is on the outskirts of Rastede and it’s about 20-25 minute walk into the town centre. Rastede itself is a lovely small town, (I have to say some people call it ‘sleepy’, as would I, but others are less complementary and call it ‘boring’!) We arrived at about 15.00h in the afternoon, as last time there was no-one at the reception, but someone soon appeared behind the bar and booked us in with minimum of fuss. Our room was ready for us. Ironically we were in the same room as last time, and we had no trouble finding it. (The hotel is a bit like Hogwarts, in that it has obviously been developed over a period of time, so you can end up going up one flight of stairs then down another, across a bridge etc – get the idea) The room was exactly the same as before, two single beds together, good sized room, with en suit bathroom, TV with usual German TV channels (and for British readers SKY and BBC news) and a reasonable sized wardrobe, as before the only thing that I would say is that it would benefit from room safe (the information booklet in the room, said most rooms had them, but not ours) and door/curtain on the shower as water went everywhere, but other than that the room was good. Had one meal in the hotel, on the Saturday evening and I have to say was very very nice (some interesting items on the English language menu, that had obviously been lost in translation, much to our amusement, but food was nice) Breakfast was nice on both morning, lots of meats, cheeses, bread rolls, tea, coffee, fruit juices, fruit yogurt, scrambled egg etc. The hotel does have a ‘wellness’ centre’ which didn’t appear to be open when we where there, but another couple who we were talking to said they had tried it, and it was good. If anyone in your party has mobility issues they you may have problem with all the stairs, I don’t know if they have a lift, didn’t see one but then I wasn’t looking for one – I’d check with the hotel. The hotel has a function room at the back and is popular with the locals (been to a few functions there myself over the years), as is the restaurant. I always say if the locals are eating there it must be good, and our experiences on both occasion would back that assertion up. Overall a very nice stay, staff are friendly, service good and there is lots of parking at the side of the hotel Again I would recommend this hotel.…
Just back from a three night stay in Rastede and we stayed at the Zollhaus, Zum and I must say its excellent. The rooms are well kept with all modern conveniences and were cleaned every day to a high standard. Staff were also very friendly and we had dinner one evening and the food also ticks all the boxs. It is also good value however it is about 1 kilometer outside the main town however I would not see this as a disadvantage. Highly recomend it if your in the area and need a place to stay.
The surroundings of the hotel are not really inspiring. But this hotel is really nice. The rooms are from a high standard. The rooms are quiet. Diner in the hotel was more than excellent and breakfast was really good. If you have to stay over in this neighborhood, this is a very good hotel to stay.
Stayed at the Zollhaus, Zum Hotel from 9 -11th March 2013, with my partner, I have friends in Rastede but unfortunately they couldn’t put us up for this weekend so recommended this hotel. The hotel is very easy find from Rastede with lots of parking. Arrived at approximately 19.00h, there was no-one on reception but a very happy smiling face appeared from the bar and someone booked us in very quickly with the minimum of fuss. The room was nice and very clean, (although somewhat dark!) that evening had a meal with the friends from Rastede, which I have to say was excellent (not cheap although not over expensive) service was good and they were happy accommodate our wish for ‘off the menu’ aperitif. We all retired to the bar later feeling very satisfied and with a full stomach. In the morning had breakfast which was very nice, again the staff very friendly and there was more than enough to eat on the menu. Didn’t use the spar/sauna (ran out of time!) but have to say the staff were very friendly and helpful, all spoke English. The hotel also seemed to be frequented by the locals of Rastede, which is always a good sign. The only downside I would say was the shower, there was no barrier between the shower cubical and the rest of the bathroom, therefore the bathroom floor soon became very wet (and dare I say is a bit dangerous) anyone walking unexpectedly into the bathroom could have easy slipped and the carpet in the room itself soon became wet! (Management: put a shower door on the shower cubicle) I defiantly would recommend this hotel, very nice (especially the meals!) Enjoy…
I like the Zollhaus very much. Rooms are clean and a little basic. But the man thing is that the hotel is great value and the rstaurant/bar are what you would expect from a good traditional German inn. There is a smallish but good and very clean sauna/ steam room spa area and the restaurant offers good German food. Dont expect haute cuisine but it is very good typical German food, big portions, good meat and, of course, good beer. I did enjoy the smoked eel soup. I will stay here again. Just to warn you though, Rastede is quiet. Great if you are on a walking/ touring holiday, but dont expect any night-life other than a nice meal and a few beers.
