After a long day trip from Lapland we arrived Haapasaari holiday Village. Before we went there we desided to have our dinner there. No we had not because their restaurant was not open at all. All we got was hamburger with water. They had 3 toilets and one shower for ladies and same for men. The place itself is beautiful but their mentality was totally wrong. Sorry.

Hated it. The older woman in reception was very mean and unbusinesslike. We stayed at cottage, it smelt terrible and surly was mildewed. The swimming beach wasn’t nice at all and the water was dirty. Can’t recommend.

Stayed for a week and loved the relaxed atmosphere and beautiful surroundings. We stayed in a 4 bed holiday cottage. It looked right out onto the lake where you could go swimming and then enjoy a sauna in the cottage. The cottage was really clean and well equipped. The staff at reception were friendly, welcoming and helpful. We enjoyed being able to walk to the town from the site. Ruovesi is a lovely little town with all the basic amenities and a charming water front area. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay as a young family.

Visited camping site with my family. Older lady greeted us in the reception. It was obvious that she wasn't interested in providing any kind of service. This place is located in small island close to mainland and it has several small cottages. About handful of cottages are in decent shape and rest of them are worn off. Camping site advertises that they have some small animals. Our daughters wanted to see if there were bunnies etc. We asked from the reception where this small "animal park" is located and receptionist told that "Well, it is not here in the reception. Animals are somewhere there in the island". Really? What an attitude. We found three alpacas, four sheep and two overweight bunnies. Animals were not in good condition and their shelters were not cleaned. Not very nice to see. This camping area had also a small log restaurant Jatkainkamppa. Food is mediocre and not cheap. I'm sure you can easily find nicer places to spend a night than this.

This place is really one of a kind and I think the nicest place we stayed in in Finland. The wooden cabins might be the most expensive homes of choice in Haapasaari but worth every single penny. We asked for a discount and the nice lady asked us what we would want to pay. When we said 100 instead of the initial 155 euros the woman nodded and gave us the kea. Amazing! The wooden cabin has an immaculate sea view a private sauna and a grill that you can use anytime. They also have little boats docked aruond their island which you can use anytime and cruise around in the lake and visit the many neighbouring islands. The rooms are spacious with a private fully equipped kitchen, TV and Radio. There is no wifi in the rooms, only by the reception, but come on who needs wifi in a place like that. Also really close by is a huge supermarket where you can buy everything you need. Highly recommended!
