As part of our 10 days trip to Italy we were keen to stop at least one night in an ancient Italian hill town and Anagni a few miles off the Rome-Naples motorway was the perfect location. Le Stanze del Duomo is a newly converted former palace built into the old town walls and has been beautifully restored with high wooden ceilings, stylish lighting, a fabulous clean modern bathroom and lovely views (and a balcony) overlooking the old town. The one downside of the location is the lack of available parking but as we had received an email from the hotel advising us several days prior to our visit this was not a problem. Having reached the top of the hill, just outside the old town, there is a large pay and display car park about 300 metres walk from the hotel. In typical Italian fashion, parking is free over the long lunch period but then charges kicks back in at 4pm through to 8pm and again at 9am the next morning. However as is also typical, parking is cheap at EUR 0.60 an hour, and although its not clear when you first arrive the car park is actually a multi storey beneath you so there is plenty of room. As others have mentioned the service here is fantastic - we had received a phone call on the morning of our arrival asking what time we expected to arrive and having parked up, as we were walking towards the hotel were met by Filipo who very kindly showed us the way to the hotel, checked us in and showed us to our room. He also volunteered details of several local restaurants for dinner, including one located in our very building which proved a superb choice. He also very kindly arranged for me to have a savoury breakfast of scambled eggs and ham the following morning rather than the standard Italian fayre of pastries and cakes, although these were pronounced delicious by my other half! Anagni is an absolute gem of a town with an amazing cathedral dating in parts back to the first century AD and plenty of artist and local craft shops nestled amongst what is still very much a working town with delis, butchers and markets. A few hours south of Rome, the town well deserves to be much better known and Le Stanze del Duomo well deserves its reputation. Definitely somewhere I want to return to.

We came in the end of December and stayed for the New Year celebration, 10 days in total. Our family of six – three generations, occupied two suites: one with a terrace and the other with a kitchenette, both are very special with great details, quite spacious, good beds, modern bathroom, great shower, wifi and even Netflix. Kids didn't want to leave the rooms. Our host Filippo help us to make this stay absolutely perfect. He has great people skills, speaks excellent English and quickly responded to all our requests. Parking was arranged, breakfast fresh and plentiful was served in a beautiful restaurant downstairs. Anagni is a very special place. We're coming back.

Le Stanze del Duomo is located just inside one of the city gates. We found parking in a public lot near the hospital. We had a spacious room in soothing shades of brown and a very comfortable bed. The bathroom had a large shower with a waterfall shower head. WiFi was fast and reliable. Our room had air conditioning, but on a 95F day, it was challenging to keep the room cool. Breakfast was served a little later than we expected, but it was quite good. People working at the guesthouse were very helpful, assisting with our luggage, providing information, and letting us store luggage for the day. Note that there is no elevator.

We stayed in this hotel on our way to the south of Italy. Anagni is a great place for such a stop. The hotel is small and cosy. A comfortable parkings nearby - not too experience. All together I would recommend staying at this hotel
