This hotel was not what I excepted. We arrived at the hotel in the evening and the first few impressions were warm and friendly. However, the hotel was very old and it felt quite cold as the floor was tiled everywhere, including our room. The layout of our room was quite strange as the double bed was elevated to a second level. Unfortunately, there was no space on the second level and the stairs were dangerously unstable and steep to go up and down. In addition, there was no desk or luggage space and limited charging sockets. The bathroom was quite small and the doors were not proper hotel doors (the doors were normal wooden doors with a keyhole). Finally, the breakfast was extremely disappointing as there wasn’t much selection and there were no staff to offer coffee or tea. Overall, it was a disappointing stay and I wouldn’t recommend it to families.…
This is a poor quality hotel. The first thing we noticed is that the corridor smells awful. And when we were shown to our room we certainly did not equate that with luxury. A small poky room with a poky bathroom, dirty floor tiles and not even a proper self locking hotel door. As for the breakfast, it was minimal. We went out for proper breakfast. That said, we managed a good nights sleep
Love the hotel, love the restaurant, love the atmosphere. Our expectations were completely blown away. Great rooms, romantic garden for drinks and relaxation or to get to work. The restaurant is also sublime. Sitting under the old big chestnut tree enjoying a delicious dinner and wine. Or just eat tapas and drink well-made cocktails in the garden. Stay until nightfall and watch the light shine in the old trees. The staff were so friendly and helpful. We stayed twice in this romantic place and we will come back for sure!
My wife and I spent a week-end at Gaigaia in July 2021. The hotel is very close from Aix and Marseille yet very calm, in between fields and pine trees. The bastide is very well restored, with a nice pool and small park where the restaurants are located. We enjoyed a spacious room well renovated and equiped. We were very well received by the team. The breakfast under the huge plane tree and by the poolside is a real moment of pleasure. The bread is incredible, with a little bit of French butter and marmalade… If you are looking for a slightly remote but well situated location for a romantic getaway, this is the place!
Advised by good friends of the owners we went there for one night bringing some other friends. A deceiving one night stand... When arriving, three different parking but none pointing to the 'Reception' (Lobby). Bad luck for us we end up in parking 3 with 2 heavy suitcases. One employee is there but do not care to know if we need help... Tone is set... We got our room (7) for 180 EUR (two guests including breakfast) and first impression is poor. 18 m2 at best... small. No cupboard and a very simple bathroom. No dark curtains when the room give on a path where people can walk... Good intimate encounter with our neighbours. I hope they liked what they saw when I came naked our of the shower... And do not count on the staff to help. There is no lift and it's all on you... Checking the price displayed the room was at 104 EUR plus 2 x 14 for the bfast... Still not sure how we paid 180...But when checking out we understood that it's a matter of season etc. Finally a very average breakfast experience. Everything is scarce, cheap and minimum. What a waste... This place with the right approach can be 5*... Right now a 2+ sold as 3.…
Lovely restaurant/ hotel near Aix. We sat outside under the huge tree which shaded the whole terrace. Lovely food. We had the 2 course menu. There was a choice of ’dorade’ or ‘magret de canard’ for the main course. Both were delicious. It was all very relaxing. We sat on the terrace for ages, then the ´Mistral’ forced us to move tables so we could warm up in the sun!
An old rustic French house with blue chatters that is now a charming hotel surrounded by nature only 5 Km from Aix en Provence. Our ground floor room came with its own court yard for privacy to sit out for a drink or a meal. Full of rustic old charm. Big outside siting/dining for breakfast/Dinners, and a very impressive modern glassed dining room that was added to the old main house. swimming pool in another level also surrounding with trees and shed. Very helpful service by the owner itself and her small crew.
Our family of 4 booked here on a whim at the last minute and I'm so glad we did. Nothing negative at all. Food in the restaurant was beyond amazing. Pool was beautiful and clean. The chateau itself was beautifully decorated and very clean and welcoming. The owner was beyond amazing. She helped with everything we needed and set up horse riding in Arles. She went above and beyond making us feel at home. I would come back just to stay here for a quiet week. We ended up staying 2 comfortable nights and wish we had longer. Make sure you save room for dinner outside. Beautiful setting. Waitstaff went out of their way to be helpful and our steak was cooked perfect.
How quietly elegant, accommodating, and all-around delightful. We felt right at home as we explored the grounds, hotel, and dined indoors and out. Our granddaughters loved the pool and visits to the animals who are lucky enough to reside on the property. The staff assisted us with and without requests. We will return to Domaine!
I was on a road trip to Provence last October, and it was my gold to experience some kind of relax and elegant countryside ambiance but for a reasonable price. The two nigths i stayed an the Domaine & Cie i got just that. I considered this a very good price because it's in Provence, and this is a very expensive region, oh la la.
