I've stayed already twice at Scandic Hell and will do so again quite frequently in the coming year. Although being situated between an airport and a railway line, it is really calm and I have slept there wonderfully. The rooms are tastefully decorated, the lighting can be adepted to any situation and the desk by the window can become a real workplace. Breakfast is outstanding. But what is truly remarkable: all staff seem to love working there as well as the position they fill, be it reception or the breakfast crew! It transpires to the guest a believeable feeling of being welcome. I can really recommend staying there, even if the business you have is in Trondheim city.
I stayed in Scandic Hell at both ends os a business trip, with stays were excellent. Here's why in 10... 1. Check in was very efficient and friendly. Within a couple of minutes, I was off to the lift and to my room on the 6th floor. Though a bit surprising, only one lift. No queues though. 2. Superbly appointed bedroom. Very Scandic as you might expect, so no surprise that there was little room to put clothes. But stylishly furnished, very comfortable bed and nice lighting. 3. The bathroom was superbly appointed too. Lots of space, great shower with lots of hot water, ample towels and toiletries. 4. Gym on the top floor. It's not massive, there isn't too much equipment, but the view is probably the most inspiring I've ever had while spinning! 5. Breakfast. Wow. Whatever you want, it's there. And hard-working staff constantly keeping everything stocked up. 6. Dinner on both night's stay, I opted for the A La Carte rather than the buffet. Very nice too and reasonable value and very pleasant service. 7. Within reception, a small but very well stocked 'grab & go' counter, plus trays of complimentary fruit. Nice touch! 8. Location. Quite close to the airport, a 10 minute walk avoiding roads via the footpath. Just far away so that the aircraft noise is not intrusive. 9. Location. Adjacent to the Hellsenteret, with a Rema supermarket and other shops. 10. I can now honestly say I've been to Hell and back!…
If I end up in Hell, I hope I will have the same experience as the stay at this hotel. Clean, friendly staff and amazing food. It was within walking distance to the airport, which was good when my flight was at 06am. I loved it.
In short, this is not a new hotel....but it is often full! So, no mystery behind this fact. The location of the hotel is great. Not too close to the airport, for the noise, but close enough for walking without sweating. Let say 5 minutes. Also very close to a mal (+Rema 1000 supermarket) and to a train station. Rooms are confortable, affordable, there is a gym and a swimming pool at the top floor: with a great view to mountains (day) or northern lights (if powerful enough). And the top 5 best breakfast I met in my whole life...
we were a couple passing through, and wanted an evening with a better meal and a good night's sleep. We didn't eat in the restaurant in the evening, but the breakfast was lovely. Very clean hotell with Good service.
Very close to the airport. Nice standard and modern rooms. Excellent breakfast. The bad: Stayed for 4nights, on second day no cleaning. Complaints at the front desk, still no cleaning. This was due to ”no cleaning sign on the door”. In my opinion, Hotell staff should inform at checkin that the sign needs to be hung on the door if cleaning is required. No such info was given. After a long day at work, you expect your room to be fixed. Poor service for such a nice hotell to not as standard offer cleaning, should be mandatory. After all, the guests are paying quite a bit for each night.
Recommended. We had some issued which were resolved beatifully by the staff. They upgraded our room free of charge. Also I recommend the brekfast which were great with a lot of options and variety. Will use the hotel again.
We stayed at the hotel for one night. The staff was very friendly. The room was clean and cool. The breakfast was great! We traveled by car, and there was a free parking space next to the hotel. The only thing we missed was that the hotel's swimming pool was not available (the sauna would have been).
I recently stayed with my family at Scandic Hell for one night at the end of my one week holiday in Norway. I had stayed at one of the Scandic hotels in Stavanger on my first night in Norway, and my experience was great. That is the reason why I decided to book Scandic Hell. However, it turned out to be a big mistake. The day I checked in happened to be one of the warmer days in a Norwegian July. The front desk staff gave us a room facing west, without AC. I only found out later that there are rooms with AC but I was not given the choice. They offered me a small fan (which means this is a common problem) but even after using it, it was impossibly hot due to the west sun, I went to talk to the front staff again to ask for a AC room, and it only then would they give one to me. The next morning, our flight was at 8am. Their full breakfast starts at 7am. And they also placed some simple cereals on the counter. We went down there early hoping the restaurant would open early. While waiting, my son took a yogurt from the counter and a few packs of cereals, because we were not sure whether we would have sufficient time to have the full breakfast. When the restaurant finally open and we were going to go in, the front desk staff came over and told us we could not eat at tte restaurant while having packed some cereals. He also used Norse to speak to the restaurant staff so she would watch us. I totally don’t understand this kind of rude behaviour. At the end we left without eating at the restaurant, I also wanted to post three postcards, and asked the same front desk person, and he said NO, only to be pointed out by his colleague that the cards already are stamped and it’s easy to send along with their posts. If someone is looking for an airport hotel, the SAS Blu is connected to the terminal which is much better. Scandic is 600 m from the airport but there is no side walks leading to the airport, unless you have a rental car.…
An excellent choice, just off the E6. Friendly and service minded staff. Great breakfast buffet included. Plus for cleanliness. If you drive from southern to northern Norway with one stopover, the location is perfect. It is also close to Trondheim and adjacent the airport.
