The setting and room are wonderful, and so is breakfast. What tops it is the outstanding quality of the service and the welcoming host, who made everything possible to make us feel at home, to provide us with all the information we might be needing and to find solutions to address our transport issues. If you are going to that area, try to find a room there!

This was definitely one of the nicest places we have ever stayed. Large, airy rooms, with comfortable beds and big clean bathrooms. A gorgeous view from the wrap-around terrace. Absolute peace and quiet. Delicious home-made breakfast and friendly, helpful hosts. We extended our stay from 3 nights to 5 because we did not want to leave this beautiful spot. We can not think of a single negative thing to say... it was perfect.

We had an incredible time! The property was in a stunning location with really lovely mountain hikes near by. It was really close to the little village of Trevélez (8 min by car) where we went for food and supplies - amazing Spanish ham! Also they give you tapas with every drink you order! We also went horse riding in the area which was a wonderful experience. Felix and his wife were really thoughtful and went out of their way to make sure we had the perfect stay! The best hosts you could wish for. All in all one of the best holidays we’ve had!

Without a doubt one of the most enjoyable places we have stayed in many trips to Spain. El Castañar Nazarí is in a splendid location, close to the pleasant town of Trevélez and an excellent starting point for visiting all the fascinating areas of the Alpujarra. Felix and Encarna are perfect hosts. Nothing is too much trouble for them and they are always ready with help and advice. This was our second visit at El Castañar Nazarí. We were there for 3 nights in 2015 and our pleasant memories drew us back for a longer stay. Our room ("El Cerezo") was most comfortable. It has great views of the Sierra Nevada and the rolling hills to the south. As before, every possible comfort was provided, and this time a small fridge had been added. Breakfasts were unbelievable, with every possible need supplied without even asking. Felix is a fine photographer with several books published, and he is a fascinating raconteur. A true Universal Man, he has travelled widely and recorded his travels with superb photos of his observations. Felix and Encarna's generosity at all times was extraordinary. We cannot say enough to recommend El Castañar Nazarí.
