We had only a launch in the restaurant Panoráma of the hotel. Our waiter was really friendly especially with our little sons. There wasn’t any kids menu or half portion though. Our soups, the main courses and also the desert were amazing. Paying with credit card was only possible at the reception desk which has caused only a small inconvenience.

Hotel staff were very knowledgeable, friendly and did speak English. We had a beautiful view and walking paths around the hotel area. A playground and zip line were located in front for kids and "adult kids" to play. Included a great buffet breakfast. We also had dinner there and it was very good. Room was comfortable and very clean. Enjoyed our stay

The hotel is located on top of a mountain approx.. 100 km away from Budapest, in a very small village (Galyatető).
We spent two nights in a superior room on a weekend in February with my husband.
Booked via phone (online booking did not work) and they did not require any prepayment or Credit Card data or anything..
The arrival and check-in process were smooth, and our outlook was not a problem (hiking gear as we walked up from 16 km distance).
They have enough staff everywhere (at the reception, in the restaurant, etc..) and everybody is really friendly, polite and helpful.
The size and cleanliness of the room was totally OK.
We got breakfast and dinner, both positive surprise. In Hungary you got used to the fact the once you leave the capital city vegetarianism or any sort of food allergy is a) a legend b) ridiculous c) non-existing d) ha-ha
In the restaurant of this hotel we had plenty of vegetarian choices and also lactose-free food and quality was totally OK.
They also have wellness facilities (pool, suana, etc) but we did not try those.
Price / value ratio is perfect.
The only bad thing – but it’s not the hotel's fault, rather some nice guests – we experienced: smoking on the terraces which was prohibited because this is a non-smoking hotel (what else on the top of one of Hungary’s highest summits which is basically a hiking center).
So great overall experience!

Have spent a three night span at the Hotel Galya. The staff is helpful and kind, food is above average and delicious, the wellness is fulfilling its purpose and has an extra feature a jacuzzi with a view that melts your soul. The room that we have been at was a Superior room with a balcony looking at the Kékestető peak, beautiful, a simple double bed with a fancy nice lovable room. Summarised I'd recommend this place for families with kids and just couples fro relaxing and recharging in the beauty of the Mátra mountains.

We spent 2 nights in this hotel with 2 children.
The view from our was wondrous! You can see the whole forest and the mountains

The hotel looks like a "old fashion", but it's not inside. They try to invent it and the infrastructure as well.
Our room was big enough for us (2 adult and 2 children), it was clean.

The SPA is ok, and for the children is there pool(s). The staff at the SPA i found not so hm...best one. I mean they didn't know their tasks.
BUT other staff was nice and helpful.

There is a big playground and activity park, and a small zoo in the big big garden.

The food was not so convincing for me, it could have been better.

Overall I suggest this hotel, because it has everything for relaxing or a great base for a tours.

Galyatető is a beautiful part of the Mátra mountain in Hungary, so in case you are a devoted hiker or you just want to be far away from the noisy city, then you will enjoy it a lot. There is nothing wrong with the place at all, but the hotel is another story! I assume it had its golden years some 50-60 years ago, but ever since the condition of the premise deteriorated much and apparently Hungest didn't bother refurbishing it so to upgrade it to today's requirements. We were very very dissappointed with our room, where the carpet and chairs were weary and our bed linens had holes. The wellness area was a joke, the sauna and the steam cabins were closed due to technical problems, so as the outside pool. The food was tasteless, uneatable. We booked to the most expensive room and what we get was way below our expectations. It was very disappointing and I don't recommend to visit it just in case you can get a very discounted price.

The hotel is a perfect choice for a long weekend or for a longer holiday in every seasons. If you are travelling with children you will find a lot of interesting activities for them in the hotel (it has a zoo, big playground, special meals for the kids) or around it. The hotel has a very good location and beautiful view to the Kékestető (highest point of Hungary). The rooms are clean and enough big for 2 persons but be careful, the rooms seeing the parking place are much smaller, I would recommend them only for 1 person.

The old charme gets a bit annoying when you lack some comfort. No AC, plastic shower curtain in the bathroom, childrens’ playground “closed” but no repairs can be seen. Furniture generally worn. Kitchen was ok, the food tasty and there is quite a variety.

The hotel's staff was very attentive, professional and super helpful with everything we wanted or asked for. Everyone had a smile on their faces every time they saw or greeted us.
Szoke Fruzsi was especially great, we really enjoyed the hike and the sauna aroma session with her, make sure you find here on your next stay, she organizes the best programs in the hotel.
Breakfast and dinner was delicious with a very wide selection of food to choose from.
Our room was on the - 1floor very conveniently close to the spa and the beds were super comfy.
The location is perfect, the view from the hotel is breathtaking and the surrunding area is out of this world, absolutely beautiful. Their is an outdoor jacuzzi and sauna which is perfect even if the weather is not so great.
Loved every minute we spent here and for sure we'll come back some day 😊

The location is fabolous. The staff was very helpful.
The rooms were very clean. (We had 4 rooms.) The food was also very good.
My only regret was the shabby condition of the "gym". It has to be improved! Wellness section was fine!
It was really a winter wonderland for all of us with snow falling and so on...
