We were in town, searching for long lost cousins. Admitadly, we were a bit worried that Slovakian food might be too heavy...after a heavy breakfast in Vienna that morning. We were wrong. The international food at Hotel Tilia was great. Better yet, the service was fantastic. The waiter helped us find our cousins. Without his English skills, our trip would have been in vain. After a long meal with plenty to eat and drink, we were amazed at how low the bill was.

Pezinok is a small town some kilometres away from bratislava. Hotel is a basic hotel in the centre of town.
Rooms are clean and breakfast is basic. If you happen not to have hotel water in the morning ask the reception... They might have switched off the boiler.

I stayed in Tilia several times during the last months when I was visiting production facilities in Pezinok. The hotel is the best you can find in Pezinok and you can safely book there if your expectations are reasonable. (Slovakia is catching up with huge steps and will have a bright future, but it isn't Western-Europe just yet.)

The check-in desk is normally staffed by someone speaking at least a bit of English and German. How good they speak English slightly varies. The hotel rooms are in three classes: Single rooms with a small bed, double rooms standard and double rooms comfort. They slightly differ in prices but the difference is small. The main difference in the double rooms is the bathroom. The cheaper rooms have bathes which are a bit older and which offer just a tube but no shower.

The view from the rooms is not so great, you either look at the back of an old apartment block or to the parking lot. The rooms itself are nice, everything pretty new and comfortable beds. On the negative side one has to mention that even so the rooms are not dirty, they are far from spotless. If you look in the corners you will find dust, the floor sometimes has stains, the glasses are not always 100% clean and so on. It's not bad enough to really annoy me, but there is definitely room for improvement.

Breakfast is ok. Not much choice but the quality of what is offered is good. The breakfast room is very nice with an open fire in the winter time.

Very good is the restaurant in the same building as the hotel. Just follow the stairs down next to the hotel entrance and you arrive in an old wine cellar. The menu is in Slovak, English and German and the staff speaks those three languages, too. The food quality there is really, really good and the prices are rather low. I can recommend the red house wine and the home made soups. I had two big glasses of wine, a soup and a plate with three kinds of meat, mushrooms and potatoes and payed 16 Euros including tips. The quality was really on level of a good Western-European restaurant.

One more tip: When you need to get around in Pezinok, take a taxi. The taxi stand is 25 meters away, opposite of the Billa supermarket and they are extremely cheap. The trip to our factory which is about 3 kilometers costs less than 3 Euros.

When you stay longer and want to eat somewhere else for a change, try the Italien restaurant in the city center. You reach it by going over the street in direction of the taxi stand, then 100 straight, turn right and then 100 meters further straight.

Great hotel, the rooms were clean and it was worth the money, The Wellness Centre was worth paying for 22euors PP for an hour. The breakfast was basic but pretty standard for what you would get else where.

Room are big and clean, forniture are a bit out of fashion but still ok-ish and very central location,
- but air conditioning it is very noisy
- remote control did not work and tv was set in Slovak and had no signal ... so basically no TV
- choice for breakfast even if renewed daily is quite limited and coffee is one of the worst I ever had

Located in the heart of the town, near the square. Poor breakfast and room standards rather average, but clean. It’s understood as the town is rather poor and not too much to do there, apart from wine tasting tour.

I spent here 3 nights on a business trip. Very spacious but basic room and bathroom, definitely no frills! Centrally located, the hotel has a good restaurant next door, a supermarket (Billa) 2mins walking. Free parking is very convenient. Smooth check-in/out process. Wifi connection not always so good. Breakfast just so so. Overall for 60€/night it’s a rather good option.

The hotel is located near the square. I think it is the best hotel in the town, but it doesn’t mean it is a high standard hotel.
Poor breakfast, uncomfortable beds, low quality material in bathroom.
But rooms are clean and relatively big (I think like 10 sq m). Parking for guests is free.
Near the hotel (same building) is good restaurant.
