Mary from Somerset says: I have stayed lots of times and enjoy it every time. I have breakfast when I want and Joan is indeed one of the best managers I have come across in years, and hope she has had a pay rise when I come over next week - don't be so tight Paul!! Make sure I have enough toilet rolls and clean towels and I might come again in the Autumn. If anyone wants a decent place to stay at a reasonable rate then I recommend it.

Was passing through Midlands with my sister ,we decided to break the journey and pop into White House for lunch and accommodation. Stew was fresh and staff were friendly. Could feel lovely heat from stove as we came in. Got a look around roscrea and had an early night. Room was Warm and clean, nice and simple especially for what we paid. Breakfast was good and Owner was very helpful when we asked for directions the next day. Would call back again

Very kind people, very welcome. Everything is in traditional style like interior and full Irish breakfast. Food is good.
The rooms are above the tourist information across the street.
Accept the old style with all the things that come with it and you have a nice stay in this B&B.

Came upon the white house by complete accident and so glad we did. Top class service and food we could not want for any more and value for money also. The owner Paul made sure our every whim was catered for. definitely will be heading back for more.

After 2hrs drive we turned off M7 for a break and into Roscrea half way on our car journey. We were so lucky to pick The White House for Tea/Coffee and tasty cakes. Thank you Paul for friendly conversation, service and the freshly made cakes (GF) option. I would be glad to recommend as the hospitality and friendliness of the staff was exceptional. Im sure I will visit again as I will always remember my first impressions of my visit. Thank you.

Dropped in for lunch to the The White House a number or years ago before I was on tripadvisor. Arrived at about 1:10, walked through the bar to the dining room and just managed to get the last table and had a fabulous lunch, place buzzing and most appeared to be locals. Called in last week and what has happened!!!!! Place looked the same on arrival a roaring fire, very welcoming. There were a FEW customers drinking and a man in black fixing the TV. I entered the dining room and there wasn't a sinner in the place, sat down and waited. The dining room was cold but I was working and on my phone while I waited for service, I waited and waited, and I eventually decided I should go back into the bar to find someone. I walked to the counter and waited, and waited. Eventually the guy fixing the TV said 'Can I help you?' I explained that I wanted to order lunch and he said take a seat by the fire and we'll look after you. I said the dining room is fine as I have some emails to send. About five minutes later Mr TV brought me a menu. I scanned and spotted Southern Fried Chicken with potatoes and seasonal veg. That'll do me and so I ordered. I received a ............ imagine the sole off a toddlers shoe covered in batter with frozen chips and a salad that had been served to someone a number of days before but they had the good sense not to eat it. I was parked outside the place and came out and sat staring in disbelief at the place. Something struck me. Where do the locals go now, we know now why they don't come here. Located beside the castle, American and Irish flags flying outside (two of each). They are targeting the tourists, they don't care if you don't come back. I sincerely hope this does not put people off stopping in Roscrea, it's a beautiful place and the people are lovely. I will check out somewhere else the next time I visit and fill you in. Avoid at all cost.

Myself and my partner decided to stay here on the way to visiting my parents in roscrea. We thought it would be ideal to stay in a B & B above a pub so that we would not have to go anywhere to enjoy a few drinks that night. We told the owner we would be back to book in in the evening time. We came back, booked in and the owner said, I will show you to your room..and started to walk towards the exit. When we saw that he was walking across the road to a an unused newsagents we were utterly amazed! Apparently they can't use the rooms above the pub due to health and safety etc. I think it is an absolute cheek to advertise what they have as bed and breakfast and charge 70 euros to stay above an unused newsagents. Apart for the fact that if you have a few drinks an walked across the road at night (would this not be a health and safety issue in itself?! We got our money back and got a great offer on a suite in Racket Hall for 79 euro. There is a total lack of professionalism here at the whitehouse and I wouldnt recommend it to a dog

I have stayed at the White House in Roscrea several times over the years ,It is my favourate place to stay ,the staff are really friendly, the food great, and the rooms very comfortable with on suite and Television I didn't have to rush over the road to the Pub early in the morning like most places for breakfast ,which was very appetizing and well cooked, I would not stay anywhere else. If you're looking for some good food in a friendly pub in the Roscrea area, stay away from The White House (in Roscrea). The place advertises like a regular tourist-oriented pub (signboards outside, etc.), but, when we walked in, we were looked at like we had stumbled upon a secret military base: "who the bleep are you, and what are you doing here?" There were maybe three people eating in the spacious place, and even they looked unfriendly. We sat in the pub and were eventually asked if we'd like to order something. There were no menus offered, and so we asked what they had. "Beef, Turkey, or Chicken." While we were waiting, someone who appeared to be the owner cast an evil eye our way as he exited the place. Very creepy, especially after having had 3 weeks of great on-the-fly pub experiences. The food was OK: meat and potatoes, no veg. We had to eventually chase down the waitress to pay. Maybe IT WAS a cover for a secret military base! They certainly weren't intent on business.

Food portion size was small. Price was big. No vegetables in my chicken curry to be seen. Not even a bit of onion. Chicken was pale n floppy. Chips we had to order to bulk up the portion size were oily n crisp. My daughters chicken nuggets were hard as rocks and as dehydrated as one too. Service was friendly but the food was appalling and i wont be eating here again.
