This is a nice hotel that cares about its guest. It is very well managed and we can see the level of care at every little corner. The style is country/old fashioned but you can see this from all the photos, so if you are looking for something more modern this is not the place to go. The room was very clean, comfortable and spacious, except for the bathroom where it was very difficult to have 2 people inside. The bathroom was very clean and the shower was fantastic. During these Covid times the staff does not enter the rooms during your stay, all towels, toiletries, coffee, etc are left at the door outside of the room. I disliked that clean towels were left directly sitting on the carpet, this is not hygienic, I suggest the hotel to have some type of protection/plastic between carpet and clean towels. Our bedrooms faced the garden which offers the best view. There was a wedding in one of the nights, we could listen the music in our bedroom but this was not unpleasant, there was complete silence from around 10.30-11pm. We only had breakfast in the hotel, the full Irish breakfast was good, but I would not recommend the continental type of breakfast. The location is convenient to visit all the surrounding counties. We had a number of places to visit within 1 hour travel or less. At the time of booking the reception was extremely helpful and they made me feel I was a valued customer. Thank you.

My husband and I got married in August 2022. I can't begin to say how amazing the experience was from booking the venue to the actual day. Aoife was an excellent wedding coordinator. She asked our opinion on everything and everything was catered to our likes. On the lead up to the day, she put no pressure on us and everything felt very at ease which is a rare thing when planning a wedding. On the day, guests were greeted with a prosecco wall and food on arrival. Aoife and the staff were so kind and understanding to everyone's needs. When my husband and I arrived we were greeted at the car by aoife with two glasses of prosecco and a big smile. The guests couldn't stop raving about the food. It all came out so quickly and tasted amazing. The waiters and waitresses were top notch and Aoife was in the room making sure everyone was taken care of. The bridal suite was stunning and the views were fab. Everyone loved the rooms and had a great night sleep. The reception hall were we ate had a private garden so the party wouldn't be gatecrashed which we really appreciated. To aoife, Gerry and all the staff at the racket Hall thank you so much for making our day so special xx

I have to start off this review on such a high, I booked a deal online which included the room and two course meal, The hotel were extremely helpful to help me arrange a room upgrade also. The room was spacious and so clean. It had a fire place which was an absolute amazing touch.
When we arrive the rugby was on so we were met by the receptionist area have a little roar at the telly which made us laugh.
The food was nice, we even got offered two glasses of Prosecco for Valentine’s Day.
The staff in the restaurant were absolutely lovely but just really run off their feet as there was a dinner dance on the noise in the bar / restaurant was extremely off puting before they went into their function room.
Overall the trip was great breakfast was really tasty and we will return

Dear its_ciaraax Thank you very much for your post after your recent stay with us here in Racket Hall Hotel. I am delighted to see that you enjoyed your stay with our various offerings. I do apologise that you felt the crowd in the Bar was a little off putting before they entered the Ballroom. It is I suppose a necessary evil in the sense that traditionally this is where we would do arrival drinks for large gatherings when they have dinner booked in the Ballroom with them using the Ballroom Bar later into the evening. I do hope it did not detract too much from your overall stay Thank you kindly again for all of your feedback Kind Regards Gerry Lavin General Manager Racket Hall Hotel

Stopped off for food here after a busy Christmas and was left very disappointed it was empty enough but we seemed to be left waiting on everything, when ordering I asked for certain vegetables not to be in any of the dishes only to find them in my main dish which wasn’t the worst thing just a bit frustrating.
I asked for a steak it was also the most expensive item on the menu so I was expecting it to be a proper steak dinner I’ve included a picture and that shrivelled up thing is what I got it was burnt dried and just awful.
Safe to say I won’t be recommending this place to friends or family

I was attending a wedding in another hotel but booked into Racket Hall, our first mistake. Wedding was at 2pm but was informed check-in was not until 3pm I was not even offered a room to change in so had to change in the car. On our return at 11.40 no one was on reception and myself and another lady searched for someone to speak with.
There was a band playing but the people on the door knew nothing about anyone who worked there. Eventually I found the most rude 'Manager' Jason I have ever had the misfortune to encounter. He completely blanked me when I informed him we were in earlier in the day. He actually turned to another person who like myself was looking for a member of staff and he said it was because I was being rude for stating that I had not been offered a room just to change for the wedding. He is the most rudest person to encounter and I would suggest in no uncertain terms that this individual be promptly sent on a customer relations course.
I have never written a poor review about anywhere before but this was truly a horrendous experience and feel that the owners of Racket Hall and other patrons be made aware of my experience. I will definitely not be returning.

Dear Gerrie B Thank you for your post after your stay with us on Saturday last. Your post went live mid-morning on Sunday 19th which was somewhat surprising as you had previously emailed the Hotel directly at 00.34am stating your grievances whilst also citing that you felt feedback was important, good or bad etc and how you felt it was important that it be bought to my attention, which on the face of it is admiral and something I have no issue with at all, as clearly everything is not always going to be perfect. Apart from the accelerated speed of your review , I was just as surprised as you stated to the manager on duty on Sunday morning that you had read my previous replies and that there wasn’t much doubt that you wouldn’t get much ‘ hop ‘……… Let me just state, and for the record at that, that I have no problem at all if the property is at fault in a certain area and I would put my hand up to such as previous responses would testify to this. However I will also stand up for the property if the need is there. Your initial complaint was that it was a mistake booking Racket Hall in the first place. This was no doubt in relation to the fact that we couldn’t give you a room until 3pm for your 2pm wedding. Our check in time is 3pm and as we were almost full the night before it becomes impossible to give rooms out any earlier than that. Added to this then is that we sometimes have requests for late check outs which we don’t always allow but we did on the day of your arrival. As a previous reply of mine also stated, many Hotels are currently employing a policy of having check in at 4pm which would no doubt make my Housekeepers lives a little easier but it is not a practice that I will enter into. Finally on this point, in your confirmation letter emailed to you on April 29th last, one of the first thing that it states is that ‘ Check-in time is strictly from 3pm, Check out is 12 noon ‘ so to say that you were only informed of this point on the day of your arrival is not entirely accurate Being as full as we were the previous night is not something I will ever apologise for. Our reception cover, like many Hotels does cease at 11pm but there was a sign in place directing patrons to the bar. Jason did acknowledge to me that he did turn to the other guest as he did indeed feel that you were being rude to him, in repeating the issue from almost 12 hours previous when he wasn’t onsite while also letting him know that it was your intention to post a review. If at the time it did take longer than it should have had to find somebody/Jason , well of course I do apologise for that Whilst everyone is entitled to their opinion and that is fine I am completely taken aback by your description of Jason being most rude and that you had the misfortune to encounter him. Likewise with you assertion that he be sent on a customer relation course I say this as he has been with us for quite a while and gets nothing but positive comments from staff & patrons alike This has so proven to be the point that he has only in the past month been promoted to Deputy Manager of the Hotel, a promotion I was only too delighter to offer. To finish with, your position on Sunday morning with the Manager on duty that the customer ‘ is always right ‘ is in this day and age stretching the point a little. I am in the industry many years and as time has gone on and particularly in post Covid times the job both my staff and indeed management do, has become somewhat more difficult. Staff currently are very hard to get in the industry and subsequently are twice as hard to hold on to. I say this in relation to standing up for both them and indeed the property if I feel something needs to be called out To give the Hotel a solitary * and say that it was ‘ absolutely disgraceful ‘ I definitely feel is one of those times when a little balance was required I note that you say you will not be returning which of course is your prerogative and one I respect Once again thank you kindly for all of your feedback. Kindest Regards Gerry Lavin General Manager Racket Hall Hotel

I had not visited Racket Hall in many years, walking in to reception it looked as though it had been updated since I was last there but sadly I was to be disappointed. Whilst the rooms are very clean & they are comfortable they are a little dated. As we were using it as a pitstop on our way elsewhere the room as fine however the food was utterly shocking. Starters were clearly Musgraves/Pallas Foods at best, bland tasteless nothing and the mains were no improvement, one of them was straight out of the microwave, the other a deep fryer. The manager on duty to his credit seemed to be aware of the issues that exist, it felt like he heard these complaints a lot and we ended up going elsewhere.
Breakfast the next day was no improvement. Two domestic toasters on a sideboard to make your own toast and one with a broken handle. The breakfast was super hot, as in microwave hot and the mushrooms I am sure were deep fried, crispy on the outside oily on the inside! All in all the food was not worth it at all.
Also the rules, statements like check-in strictly 3pm, there are nicer ways to deliver that message, try "unfortunately we cannot accommodate early check-ins". Soften the language so that people feel welcome.
The staff were great, friendly & helpful but on balance I would not be returning any time soon

Dear Relax539429 Thank you kindly for your review after spending time recently with us here in Racket Hall Hotel It is a disappointment to see that your stay wasn't totally to your liking. There have indeed been many updates/improvements since your last visit including some within the bedrooms with the most recent one being the new install of televisions just prior to Christmas last. To suggest that they are dated is clearly a personal opinion In relation to the starters you had, it is unfortunate that you didn't state what you had , I say this as we don't purchase starters from either of the aforementioned companies & I will discuss this with the Manager you referenced If they were not to you liking which they clearly weren't , that is a totally different complaint and one that I apologise to you for. Likewise in you assumption that the Breakfast is microwaved as it certainly isn't in any shape or form. You haven't stated what you had but in conjunction with your mushroom reference I will assume it was a cooked full Breakfast which I will again state, is not microwaved. At most it would be put under a grill prior to been taken out into the Breakfast room. In relation to the mushrooms, again I apologise and will be taking this to the chef as it is something that has indeed been mentioned previously. I am sorry that you took offence to the sign at Reception , as none was intended. It is a sign that has been there a long time and hasn't been referenced in a negative manner prior to this but I will relook at same. The only point I will make re this is that I am totally confident as previous reviews will testify , that all guests are made to feel welcome arriving at Racket Hall regardless of any signs are in place As Manager I will finish be apologising that your stay was not all that it should have been while also adding in that I was on duty for the duration of said stay, and I would have gladly made myself available to discuss any of the issues that you clearly experienced Thank you again for all of your feedback Kind Regards Gerry Lavin General Manager Racket Hall Hotel

This lovely well situated hotel is a great location for a staycation in beautiful countryside in Tipperary. We have just returned from a fabulous 5 day trip here, where we got some stunning April weather and did some really nice sight seeing. Rooms are very comfortable and well appointed here, and nothing is too much trouble for staff, who are a pleasure to deal with. From checking in until we left, every member of staff was so friendly and helpful, it made our stay so very warm and welcoming. Our room was serviced whenever we wished and there was plenty of everything, toiletries, teabags, coffee etc., provided every day, without us having to ask. Restaurant and bar at the hotel were very nice and we had a couple of meals here, which were lovely, tasty and our dietary requirements were well catered for. Breakfast was part of our package and was also very good, with freshly cooked food, cooked to our request and a wide range of cereals, pastries and other fare available also, so lots of choices for children and adults alike. Overall, our stay here was wonderful. So relaxing and absolutely no traffic noise at all, as we were facing the gardens and fountain, which were very picturesque. I would have no hesitation in recommending Racket Hall Hotel to anyone wishing to visit this area of Tipperary. It was a pleasure.

Dear Straoil Thank you for taking the time to post after your recent visit to Racket Hall. It was quite fulfilling to read your comments as it appears that your needs were well catered for which is of course very rewarding to see. Peoples opinions on a particular venue will no doubt always differ and I am totally fine with that as it is the service industry after all but with reviews such as yours it gives the whole team a lift and as Manager , I can only be happy with that. Thank you again for all the many positives you mentioned and of course your overall feedback. Kind Regards Gerry Lavin General Manager Racket Hall Hotel

Had afternoon tea here yesterday and I cannot say enough about this hotel, it was fantastic!
When I booked I enquired about a children's afternoon tea menu as we were two adults and two children, taking the girls as a treat for a special occasion. The receptionist Jean was so nice, they didn't have a children's afternoon tea menu but she took my number, spoke to the chef and called me back with a children's price. She was so genuinely lovely and helpful.
When we arrived the staff could not have been nicer. They had made the girls up their own special table. They were treated like two princesses.
The food was great! Plenty of it too, Sausages, spring rolls, goujons, sandwiches, brownies, carrot cake, cheesecake, profiteroles and bottomless tea. And what we couldn't finish was packed up to take away.
This is excellent value for money. The food, the staff and the customer service were fantastic. I highly recommend it and will definitely be back!!

From the moment we arrive to the time we left we were treated so warmly and welcomed by all the staff, who always treated us with a smile and kind words. Our bedroom was warm and comfortable. The food was outstanding. Best meal we all ate in ages. We loved the location and not having to worry about parking. We cannot recommend Racket Hall enough and have already booked our return stay.

We stayed here for 4 nights this week and when I was I was disgusted I mean I was disgusted. They do not clean ur room if you are staying multiple nights. Stating some ridiculous COVID rubbish for their penny pinching exercise
On arrival I went for a shower and found huge clumps of long back hair all over the tiles on the bathroom, I informed reception who said it would be sorted 4 days later it wasn't!!
The rooms are dated, unclean and seriously cold.
Food was ok but service was shocking and not because the staff where poor, they where excellent there just wants anywhere near enough of them.
Location was excellent.
The place needs a massive massive facelift, they need to employ cleaners and clean the rooms. Cobwebs line the bar/restaurant walls.
Clearly the place is severely understaffed. I've traveled alot and it was quiet honestly the dirtiest place I have ever visited

Dear A8183VErichard Thank you kindly for your comments after recently staying with us here in Racket Hall Hotel It is quite disappointing to both see that you didn't enjoy your stay and in turn your subsequent comments. I am aware that the evening you arrived the offer was made to address the issue of a hair in your bathroom immediately , but you declined as you wanted to go to to bed. I can assure you that this was done the following day as I made certain of it myself. Regarding the cleaning of the rooms...… We have a letter in all rooms letting guests know that if they would like their room cleaned to please let us know. You of course are entitled to your opinion but to state that it is ' some COVID rubbish' is somewhat missing the point. As I type, we have 2 members of the team out with long Covid and 2 others out for over a week with Covid. We like many premises are indeed struggling for staff and in particular midweek but we are getting there. We have cleaners employed ( 2 of which are here a combined 30+ years ) but mistakes do happen and for that I of course totally apologise. Last week of course was the national Ploughing and we were a-lot busier than any normal week and did on all fronts try and give as good a service as was possible However when we have somebody in situ with the Company paying for all in terms of accommodation , food & beverage that it would have been both helpful & indeed constructive if something had been said to Management prior to departure as opposed to your totally negative review I do however as stated initially, thank you for your feedback and will be certain to share it with the team. Kind Regards Gerry Lavin General Manager Racket Hall Hotel
