We made a reservation by Internet, including a message that we were booking a double room with dinner and breakfast. When we arrived late afternoon, the proprietor looked surprised that we would want dinner and said that the restaurant would not be open (this was a Saturday). The local pub was already fully booked so we had to drive into...

Convenient stopping off point for a Ridgeway journey, about 10 miles from southern end. If you need to leave a bicycle there as we did the proprietor has a specific place to leave them, so do make a point of asking. We did ask if we could leave the bike but were not told about the secure parking place until...

The Parklands Hotel claims a certain status by advertising, prominently, on its signage and on its website that it is a hotel, providing guests with morning coffee, lunches and dinners. The problem is that it does not, or at least certainly not in our experience. It is more accurately a mediocre bed-and-breakfast parading as a hotel. We arrived after a...

This place is set in a dead end, but convenient for Marlborough. Room excellent, clean, immaculate. Shower fine. The Bentley Grill sounds grander than it is (as does the name Parklands): it is the dining room of the hotel, run by the boss, Mark Bentley. Other reviewers have made comments on the proprietor's manner, which I think he could improve...

One night stay in very small room 3 was perfectly ok. Clean room, comfy bed, good breakfast. Got a reasonable deal on Expedia and would not have considered the full price to be value for money. The pub in the village would be a comparable alternative at about the same price.

Good clean rooms, excellent breakfasts. The Proprietor is very talkative but sometimes TOO intrusive on your conversations! I did not appreciate his disparaging remarks of others!! Water pressure in shower not really adequate but it is an old building.

We stayed one nigh in this quiet village. The room was a bit small but comfortable. We also had an excellent dinner. The breakfast was also good with a varied choice. We can recommend this family run hotel.

Friendly, efficient welcome and helpful team. Requested as modern a room as possible when booking and communication was excellent. 18th Century building but room (9) met the brief... clean and neat but on the small side. Shower room a squeeze and water pressure inadequate. Double bed firm - perhaps could have used a topper. Breakfast nicely cooked and used quality...

Stayed second night of our Ridgeway walk. Ogbourne St George is 'en route" & it is up to you whether you cheat the corner the next day! Comfortable room, masses of hot in shower, wi-fi, tea/coffee etc. Everything spic & span. Breakfast with chatty landlord very enjoyable. A good start to the day! Meals are not always available at Parklands...

Just had a couple of nights here with a mate of mine. Easy to find, and lots of parking in a nice quiet location, so no outside noise to worry about. Prices reasonable for the area. Room was clean and well appointed - not the biggest, but plenty of room for me and I'm not the smallest of blokes. Plenty...
