We come to this pub a lot and the food is always good BUT we were shocked that on our last visit when our daughter treated us to the dinner we were charged £9.40 for a large glass of white wine at the bar. Why didn't they suggest we get a bottle which would have been cheaper. This has really...

Thank you for taking the time to post a review on TA. We're pleased to hear that you have always found the food to be good however, we are very disappointed to read that your most recent experience left a bad taste in your mouth. The wine that you ordered is the New Zealand Sauvignon blanc and is the most...

We had lunch here as a party of four. It was our second visit; we returned because it was excellent the first time. We all chose from the fixed price three course lunch menu. This is very good value, with sensible sized portions, so we all enjoyed the full three courses. All the food was very good. Timing (so important!)...

Thank you for posting such a lovely review about the food and the staff at The Red Lion. We're pleased to hear you all enjoyed your meals enough to return. If you prefer to have more vegetables instead of potatoes do just ask when you order and that can be arranged. Other suggestions also noted. Thank you again and we...

Had an evening meal to celebrate our granddaughters 7th birthday, in a party of nine that also included two four year olds. Seated in a perfect area for youngstes away from the main section of the pub, in a corner full of character. The staff could not have been more attentive and they made the evening so special - I...

We have eaten at this pub both in 2014 and 2016 when we have stayed in a local cottage. It's attractively decorated and very cosy with a lovely resident dog. The staff are friendly and welcoming (to both us AND our dog) they found us a table on both occasions despite being really busy. The food is lovely and its...

We visited for lunch, after searching reviews for several pubs in the area. The staff were very welcoming, and attentive without being obtrusive. The standard menu has a wide variety of dishes and there is also an interesting specials board. Our table was in the cosy restaurant area, with a warming log fire burning at the end of the room....

My boyfriend and I stayed here on Boxing Day night and it was a great experience right from the start. All the staff are incredibly helpful and love dogs which is great! The room we stayed in, number 4, was small but cosy and warmed up very quickly. The homemade shortbread and dog biscuits were a lovely touch. We ate...

I regularly visit this truly outstanding pub and restuarant. Lisa and Sarah are the perfect hosts and have an exceptional Team who deliver world class service, food and beer. We stayed here for one night en route from Brighton to Manchester for Christmas. It was a perfect place to stop off. We got a lovely warm welcome from Lisa and had a comfortable, warm room. Many places say they are dog friendly but it's rather grudging. Here they really love dogs and ours was made to feel at home....
