The Lion Hotel in Brewood is also The Staffordshire Grill, we went there on Friday evening and all had a fabulous meal, the staff were very polite and attentive, we shall definitely return and would highly recommend.

Booked last minute. Seems like a Small village. Parking ok. Not too far off the motorway. For a small village the hotel was busy, food good, room good, shower very nice clean. Bed is crispy and clean. I like it Food ... a tiny bit expensive but probably worth it. Beers nice Not had breakfast yet ... So far very... More

My wife and myself have just had a one night stay at the Lion . The rooms are spacious with good facilities. The food was excellent with attentive staff. Was originally a little nervous as some reviews were negative but it was an excellent stay , we will be returning.

Recently ate at the Staffordshire grill on a busy Friday evening, and both me and my girlfriend had a great experience and a really good night. The new refurbishment was really nice, and the customer service received by all staff was faultless, particularly who clearly seemed to be the manager on the evening, was extremely helpful and professional. The manager... More

We booked this at 1415 Sunday afternoon for a 1500 seating. The lady on the phone was pleasant and when we arrived we had a slight mix up on my bets but to no avail she gave us a choice of seats to choose from. The food was lovely and delivered in a timely manner, it is priced just above... More

My partner and I ate here on a Sunday afternoon with another couple. Was looking forward to it as the menu and pictures of the food looked amazing online. The food took over 40minutes to arrive, when it did, the meals look nothing like the pictures! I can't even say the food was worth it even if small, because it... More

First, it's in the cutest town, right by a canal full of boats like something from Rosie and Jim. Excellent for a wee stroll before dinner. Then dinner. The baked Camembert was one of the best I've ever had - herbs in the chee, balsamic vinegar drizzled over warm bred-definitely something I'm going to attempt to recreate. My steak was... More

We were very excited to eat here after seeing such fantastic photos via The Staffordshire Grill Facebook page. The menu was smaller than expected but the food had enticing descriptions... do not be fooled! We had a rather long wait but the supervisor apologised for this. When the food arrived it looked average to say the best, far from the... More

OK steak. Warm water served on the table, staff don't seem to know what they're doing, holding the drink's at the top of the glass etc won't be rushing back, has nothing on the likes of miller n carter.

First visit to the Staffordshire Grill. My children had been there when it was the Lion Hotel and said the food was great. We booked last minute so had an early sitting at 5:15pm. The decor is lovely but when we were taken to our table it was extremely small and pushed up against a wall. I noticed close to... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The Lion Hotel, built in the 18th century, was originally two establishments, namely The Giffard Arms and The Red Lion. They continued to have two different proprietors until 1850, when The Giffard Arms and The Red Lion was under a single proprietor and was presumably combined into one establishment. The name seems to have been shortened to The Lion by 1867.It was in The Red Lion that the Hon. John Byng was "put into a white-washed room, and got a miserable, neither hot - nor cold dinner" in 1792.The Giffard Arms was used as a magistrates court and the Magistrates and prisoners would enter by the now blocked off door on the far right of the building. In 1870 and for many years there were many different licensees for The Lion, including E. Bagnall and A. Bourne, and in 1937 the licensee was a Mrs Anne Ball. The combined premises subsequently had a spell as a "posh" Three Star Hotel (AA & RAC).A magnificent staircase was removed from the interior of The Giffard Arms in 1970.At present, The Lion Hotel is a Grade 11 listed building. ... more   less
