Situated in a lovely part of Devon, Farndon Thatch is a little slice of English countryside heaven. Jane and Bob treat you like a member of the family, start to finish. The gardens are immaculately kept and a very relaxing place to spend an afternoon with a beer! The bedrooms are comfortable and well equipped, and the breakfast is delicious....

This place was a gold mine find. Hospitality was so welcoming and nothing was too much trouble. The location is in beautiful surroundings and not far from the M5. I wish we could have stayed longer! Breakfast was excellent not continental or full English you got both! I woud highly recommend, there is nothing I could say that was anyway...

If you had to design a chocolate box and you were looking for a typical chocolate box cottage, well Farndon Thatch fits the bill. In the heart of the Sommerset countryside it really is a beautiful property. The gardens are quite stunning and a credit to Jane and Bob the very welcoming owners. We had a lovely night's sleep in the...

This is a really lovely B & B .A pretty cottage, beautifully combining old and new, with a glorious garden. The owners could not have been more helpful and welcoming- they seemed to really enjoy sharing their home with the guests. Everything was very high quality especially the delicious breakfast ( what an amazing array of jams etc!)

Our second visit to Jane and Bob's did not disappoint - and the garden was even more spectacular than when we were there in April 12! It simply confirmed that this is possibly the best B&B we have ever stayed at in the UK (as described in all the other reviews), and hope we can revisit again soon! thank you...

What a fantastic garden and an astonishing view, found the house and was very impressed. Was met by Jane and offered tea and cake, home made cake:) Jane is very nice and we soon met hubby, Bob, really nice couple, both have been part of the classical music scene in the past and are very welcoming. The house itself is...

As Aussie travellers spening over 60 days in the UK, this was simply the best B&B we found and we could not recommend it too highly. The premises and gardens are breathtakingly beautiful and the Medieval room that we asked for was comfortable with amenities that showed absolute attention to detail. Possibly the most comfortable bed we slept in during...

We stayed one night on our way home from Exeter. It was a bit further off the A303 (about 10 minutes along small country lanes) than I'd anticipated but well worth it. Setting is stunning and the owners are extremely hospitable.

Arriving tired after a full day's driving, what better greeting than a glass of wine sitting in the garden and taking in a marvelous view. Bob and Jane were excellent hosts, booking dinner for us in a nearby village (real England), and then a very comfortable sleep under the centuries old (but all mod cons) thatch. Believe all the previous...

Come and discover one of Somerset's best kept secrets!! Dating back to the late 15th Century and set in one of the most beautiful areas of South Somerset near the old market town of Ilminster, this stunning Thatched stone cottage oozes comfort with touches of luxury. With an acre of wonderful plantsman’s gardens,(open under the National Garden Scheme) and panoramic views to die for, life can’t get much better than this! Choose from the Kingsize double with en-suite in the Medieval bedroom, or the SuperKing double/twin bedroom with its own private adjacent shower room down your own private landing . With beautifully sprung comfy beds, your own Freeview TV, hospitality tray with a selection of Indian, China, herbal and fruit teas and coffee, filtered water, hairdryer and independent heating controls, we aim to make your stay with us as comfortable and relaxed as we can. An iron and ironing board are available and we can help with restaurant/pub reservations. The guest sitting room has TV/DVD and wood burning stove in the old inglenook and there is wireless internet access and plenty of private parking. Our breakfasts are sourced wherever possible from our own and local produce and served in the stylish kitchen/breakfast room with wonderful views over the surrounding countryside. Enjoy a quiet drink in the garden on a summer’s eve, the scent of roses, while watching the cows return from milking. A great base for walking, cycling and bird watching with the Somerset Levels and RSPB reserves nearby. We are excellently placed for a number of wonderful National Trust properties and private Historic Houses and Gardens including Barrington Court, Montacute, Lytes Cary, Tintinhul, Forde Abbey, Hestercombe, East Lambrook Manor, Mapperton and Cothay Manor to name just a few! Being approx. 20 miles from both coasts and Dorset and Devon, a visit south to Hardy country, Lyme Regis, Bridport, Weymouth, Chesil Beach and the Jurassic Coast, or north to Weston-super-Mare, Burnham on Sea, Minehead, Cheddar Gorge and Exmoor National Park are all an easy drive. “There are 2 bedrooms, both of which have great character. The Victorian Kingsize/twin room at the back of the house might be quieter as its away from the road, but it would be a shame to miss the great beams in the mediaeval room at the front. Hard to choose!”
