We stayed at the neighboring Savegre and were absolutely fed up with the buffet meals for $25 a person. This hotel/restaurant was recommended by one of our waiters at Savegre. I cannot recommend this property enough. We had a lovely meal (upscale) inclusive of an appetizer, salad, soup, a trout and a chicken filets plus desert and any drinks we ordered for 6,000 colones each, taxes and tips included. We were stunned and so impressed that we had our waiter (lived in Canada and was just very kind to us, don't remember the name) show us some of their cabanas. He showed us 2 different cabins, one for 6 people and one for 2 people. Each included a kitchenette, awesome beds, clean showers and were so so spacious and so private in comparison to Savegre Hotel and Spa! We inquired about

The cabin we stayed in is very nice. Some people would call it rustic, I guess, but it has everything you need, including comfortable beds and a wonderful balcony overlooking the lake. We saw many birds that were new to us, including the Emerald Toucanet. The meals we had in the dining area were very good, and the staff went above and beyond to accommodate us. Highly recommended.

Our second trip to San Gerardo and while the facilites are very good this area is Little too crowed, like la Sabana en San Jose or Grand Central Park in NY and unfortunately the river is polluted with run off from all the trout ponds and dead fish. The Vulture is the most common bird and we had to go further up to fnd Quetzales

Sueños del Bosque is in an idyllic location beside a lake, where the valley of the river Savegre levels out. We were pleased to have chosen it, rather than one of the lodges further up the valley where temperatures can be cooler and the terrain steeper. The owners are creating a lovely environment, not only with the shallow lake and its families of ducks, but also with colourful shrubs and flowerbeds, where hummingbirds and other birds dart among the foliage. The view from the bungalow balconies across the tranquil lake inspires a sense of peace and relaxation. The terrace of bungalows beside the lake appears fairly recently built. I think they are all slightly different - the larger ones are self-catering and some have fireplaces. We didn't miss a fireplace but we did

We really enjoyed our 2 nights at this location. It is in a lovely setting near the Savegre River with a small pond on the premises. My cabin was more than adequate. comfortable and roomy with a small deck overlooking the pond. Food in the restaurant was very good though limited. The facility, restaurant and all, seemed to be run by two young people who were efficient and cordial with reasonably good English speaking skills. I was here with bird watching friends and found good bird diversity on the grounds and in the general area. I did wish they would put out some hummingbird feeders as other facilities in the area do. That would up the interest for birders.
