The cabin we stayed in is very nice. Some people would call it rustic, I guess, but it has everything you need, including comfortable beds and a wonderful balcony overlooking the lake. We saw many birds that were new to us, including the Emerald Toucanet. The meals we had in the dining area were very good, and the staff went... More

Our second trip to San Gerardo and while the facilites are very good this area is Little too crowed, like la Sabana en San Jose or Grand Central Park in NY and unfortunately the river is polluted with run off from all the trout ponds and dead fish. The Vulture is the most common bird and we had to go... More

Sueños del Bosque is in an idyllic location beside a lake, where the valley of the river Savegre levels out. We were pleased to have chosen it, rather than one of the lodges further up the valley where temperatures can be cooler and the terrain steeper. The owners are creating a lovely environment, not only with the shallow lake and... More

We really enjoyed our 2 nights at this location. It is in a lovely setting near the Savegre River with a small pond on the premises. My cabin was more than adequate. comfortable and roomy with a small deck overlooking the pond. Food in the restaurant was very good though limited. The facility, restaurant and all, seemed to be run... More

I led a birding group through Costa Rica and this was our second lodge to stay in. We were amazed at the size of the rooms when we checked in - huge! Small bathrooms but that makes them easier to keep warm. The bed was ultra comfortable, with plenty of blankets for the cold nights. An electric heater is included... More

Please do yourself a favor and visit this little hotel. The rooms are nice, the lake is beautiful, they also have horse rides and trails so you can enjoy nature. But the best of all is the FOOD!!! is great, if you stay here you should definitely try the restaurant, the food is awesome and at a good price

We truly enjoyed our stay at this hotel. The room was quiet and comfortably furnished. There were plenty of blankets and everything worked. The mattress could have been a little more comfortable and I could hear the neighbors, but the beauty of the area outweighed W. What a lovely garden and hiking trails. We loved using their barbeque. The weather... More

We had booked with another hotel, but it turns out that they had overbooked, so we moved over to the Suenos del Bosque. It was a little older, but much quieter and farther from the maddening crowd. I'd pick Suenos del Bosque first next time.

We had a lovely three nights at this simple, but well cared-for, slice of heaven in the mountains. Although we did not see the Resplendent Quetzal (should have hired a guide?), we saw several trogans and tanagers, hundreds of hummingbirds, and many other bird varieties. Meals were filling, with two options for dinner and a few options for the free... More

Suenos Del Bosque is the next to last accomodation as you descend the steep road into the narrow gorge-like valley cut into the surrounding mountains by the Savegre River. Many people visit this area to see one magnificent bird: the resplendent quetzal; but there is much more to discover. Trout fishing is excellent. The "town" consists of a school and... More
