We came for one night to try and see a Quetzal and wish we had stayed longer as the hotel and surrounding area are stunning. The hotel was absolutely perfect. The rooms were spotless, very comfortable and had beautiful views of the river. Breakfast (included) was amazing and the portions were huge. Dinner was also excellent with large portions, our family of three shared soup and fish and chips and left completely satisfied. The hotel garden, just up the road is a beautiful place to walk and watch birds (lots of fish ponds and hummingbirds) with a beautiful lookout at the top of the hill. The services was excellent, would absolutely come back again and stay longer. This is a beautiful place and the birds, including the quetzal, are amazing.

A lodge with two super comfortable rooms with everything you need and a really nice river view! The restaurant was what impressed me the most, perfect breakfasts (included in the rate), we enjoyed different dishes (two dinners and two lunches) and the taste was excellent. Be sure to try the tomato soup. Impressively well prepared seafood, VERY good tasting trout. In the second floor of the restaurant there is an incredible space to enjoy a good coffee while reading a book or working.

We stayed for one night, for a shot getaway from all the City restrictions nowadays. I wanted a nice place to celebrate a birthday, and boy we were surprised not only for the great paradise is San Gerardo de Dota, but for the amazing lodge we found! After reading lots of reviews of hotels in the zone, I finally decided to give Lauraceas a chance... and I´m so happy we did the right choice. The place has only 2 suites (for now) but the location and comfort we got was remarkable. Rooms were beautiful, wood walls and warm lights, with a nice small room with a coach and a small table so we could seat there at night to watch the sky and listen to the river, also a small balcony! The restaurant has great food, dishes are very big!! We had our birthday dinner there and also we had breakfast (delicious!!) . But one thing that I would like to mention is the service we got! The property is new, they opened at the beginning of 2019, it´s a family owned business. And we felt really good since the moment we arrived to the last minute when we left the hotel. All of them were very helpful with all of our requests!!! We felt very good and safe! Also the COVID-19 protocols in both Restaurant and Suites were very good. I have only positive things to say about this experience, and I hope we can go back soon!

Located on a part of a family avocado farm and directly across the road from the Savegre River, this is exactly what we were looking for, and more. We prefer when we travel to avoid large properties with crowds of people and this one (although with hopes of expanding) has only two suites , both with balconies that overlook the river and impeccably clean and modern. The bed was extremely comfortable with lots of blankets and a down comforter that made it extremely cozy in what I consider a pretty cold climate. (subjective, as we live a couple of hours away at the beach with an average temp of 80 degrees F.) They also supply a space heater if requested. What struck me most was the level of personal attention (as a family run business) combined with the extremely "professional" touches of a much larger hotel. The beautiful logo was everywhere, the uniforms crisp and clean and the decor modern and well maintained. As it turns out, Glenda was a "hospitality" major in school and worked for the Marriott Corp. for five years prior to the family opening their own business. Her professionalism shows in every aspect of the operation. Her sister, Alicia, was equally professional with a warm and helpful demeanor. Following Covid virus protocol perfectly, they provided hand sanitizer outside the entrance and then asked one to wash hands prior to proceeding to the table. Both Alicia and Glenda wore the same uniform and mask so without the name tags it was difficult sometimes to tell one from the other. We paid in cash (rather than letting the bank take their percentage from a debit card payment) and they provided a tray to place the bills and sanitizer to clean each bill before it changes hands. This is the same protocol that I use at the bank! The food was simply delicious and the gallo pinto was among the best that I have ever had (after living in Costa Rica for twenty years) but my major complaint was the quantity; just TOO MUCH food. I hate to waste but it was just impossible to avoid. Speaking of "waste," they are very "green" here and ask to that the lights are turned off when not in use (all LED) and ask not to waste water, etc. It is exactly what we ask of our guests in our rental villas. It is not about the money but instead, just being a responsible steward of our planet's natural resources. Alicia's novio (boyfriend/fiance?) served as our guide to search for the Resplendent Quetzal and we were not disappointed. Within an hour we had photos of immature birds as well as older ones in full plumage. He is a very nice young man and helped make our stay perfect. The family also owns botanical gardens about 150 meters from the lodge with dozens species of plants that could never grow down at the beach where we live. Well maintained paths lead up the hill though running streams all leading to ponds below filled with trout. Flowers abound. All in all with the personal attention, the professionalism and the caring for the environment, it was the PERFECT EXPERIENCE. The professional

Highly recommended, excellent attention and the food is outstanding. Can't describe with words. Had a dinner with my husband, celebrating 5 years of marriage. Ordered a beef and pasta with seafood... Like heaven!
