The cabins are rustic and clean with bathrooms and running water. The rainbow trout ponds are interesting and this is the freshest fish you will ever eat in a restaurant. The tico family are wonderful, friendly and very helpful. The mora juice from the local black berries is to die for. Don't forget to try the spagetti squash which is... More

At the headwaters of the Rio Savegre, Los Lagos Lodge is nestled in a tiny cloud-forest valley with more fruit trees than people. Tranquility, good food and family-based hospitality offer a serene, flower-filled place to view the Resplendent Quetzal, fish for and eat fresh trout, hike and relax. At an elevation of 5,000 feet with beautiful mountainous terrain, visitors quickly... More

While in San Gerardo de Dota, I stayed at Los Lagos Lodge for two nights. The lodge itself is nothing spectacular. I would really call it a rustic cabin. It has power and running water, but no frills. What makes this place great are the people. Laura who runs the Cottage Bakery above one of cabins is lovely. We spent... More
