Great food, nice staff, farm and beautiful land! For 270 a night we had a gorgeous cabin with a view. Sounds great right ? Wrong !! On our tour we find animals chained up and caged brutally. The pigs raised for meat are jammed into cages with metal floors far from nature. They never get to come out! The cows...

I was recommended this place by a friend who lived in La Fortuna for a while. I was not disappointed. Rancho Margot is a sustainable ecolodge that is quiet and secluded in the mountains. There are activities to do at the lodge that are included in the rate, and there are trails through forest. The lodge is so beautiful and...

Really enjoyed it overall: the room was nice, good food, informative tour, great staff. But it is in the forest and it's focus on energy efficiency translates to a dark few days. The lighting was always dim, even mid afternoon. Hard to read at night in the rooms too. But otherwise it was great.

Rancho Margot is truly a fascinating place. It is a working organic farm, that truly lives by the working philosophy of reducing its carbon footprint. The farm produces its own electricity, recycles its waste, and all the food in its restaurant (which is incredibly delicious) is farmed right there — from chickens and pigs, to vegetables, herbs and fruit. The...

The other reviews are correct in a lot of ways, but there are a few things that some people might like to know. There is no view of the lake or volcano from Margot. Make sure you are looking for a rugged, earthy experience. There is no A/C. The road to Margot was quite bad once you get off the paved...

The water is fresh and full of vitality. The accommodations are impeccable and the staff are some of the most wonderful people you could ever want to meet. Finding yourself distant...

The drive to Rancho Margot leaves no doubt you are in the rain forest. Beautiful and very rugged. As you arrive and walk under a canopy of tropical vegetation you know you are in for something really special. A feeling of both serenity and excitement overtake you. Suddenly, smiling faces greet you and you are on your way to an...

Our 3-day stay at Rancho Margot was magical. Waking up in the beautiful bungalow surrounded by breathtaking scenery and listening to the sounds of the animals was amazing. From the minute our family arrived ( ages between 22 and 77) everyone was enchanted. The staff was kind, helpful and knowledgable. They could not have made us feel more welcome or...
