This is a bare-bones budget hotel. It's clean, affordable, and the proprietors are friendly. With that said, I don't think we'd stay there again. The bathroom was very small, no television, the internet didn't work, and our kitchenette had ants. If you need just a place to crash this place is okay. If your expectations are higher, then I'd try...

We chose this place to find nature and great views and escape the touristy buzz of la fortuna. The place is nice and clean, very quiet. They is a fridge and you can get breakfast for 5 additional dollars. The view is very nice even during the rainy season ( very cloudy) , and it all feels so relaxing. It...

Our apartment was very basic equipped, but extremely clean, hosts were very nice to us. Communication was easy, allthough they do not speak english very well. They help their guests. Their laundry service is very quick and fine and very useful in the weather at Arenal. We had luck to see the vulcano from our house, while is the rainy...

This was my absolute favorite place that I stayed while visiting Costa Rica. The location was amazing and I loved that it was a good distance away from La Fortuna (which is all tourists). This location was great if you're interested in getting to know locals and learning about the culture. The bed and breakfast was so clean and the...

This was one of the favorite places we stayed in Costa Rica. It's a small bed and breakfast with enormous, comfortable rooms. We stayed in room 1 on the first floor, which had two double beds and a very functional kitchen area with dishes for two. There is also a mini fridge and coffee maker (with coffee supplied!). The best...

The price was very reasonable, great place to stay while checking out the area, the "ticos" operating the place were very kind and gentle, I would return over and over again!! The views and the upstairs room were even better.

Best way to end my 2 week trip to Costa Rica. Cabinas los tucanes was an incredible escape. My boyfriend and I were only planning on staying 1 night in El Castillo and 1 night in La Fortuna, but we liked the hotel so much that we decided to stay an extra night. The hotel was clean and the room...

This place was great! It's basically a bed and breakfast with spacious, clean rooms. The views of the volcano are amazing. The triple room on the second floor has especially good views and a balcony that faces the volcano. The hostess was helpful with brainstorming things to do (hot springs, hikes, etc). We had the typical breakfast (fruit, rice, beans,...

This is not a tourist hotel but rather a very comfortable place to stay while you check out the Lake Arenal area. The accommodations are excellent and roomy. Breakfast is a treat. The little town is very local and hence a fun experience. The price was very, very reasonable. As non-tourist as the place is, it was a highlight in...
