We planned to stay here 2 nights but made it 4! What a great view on Arenal, friendly people, good breakfast, small but sufficient swimming pool and a pooltable (free to use!!). We especially appreciated the folded towels (swan or a basked or snail) each day after cleaning!

After driving for almost an hour down a dirt road in a pouring rainstorm, we arrived only to discover they had given our pre-paid room to someone else. Eduardo was nowhere to be found. They gave us a terrible room with one tiny window for the night. Eduardo finally showed up about 9:45 the next morning and offered us a...

Really loved the hotel. Basic rooms, but the restaurant and food make up for it. The view is spectacular, even though the volcano is no longer smoking. We stayed in a bungalow. Really missed having a balcony so should have stayed in an apartment. Chef Benedict is a funny guy. A real character. We really liked José too. Great village....

We stayed at the Hotel El Castillo del Arenal for 2 wonderful days! The property is beautiful with amazing views! The staff was attentive and courteous to our every need! Eduardo, Carlos, Jose, Fermine, and Chef Miguel were great and the food was AWESOME! They made us feel like family the entire stay! Best food in Costa Rica--hands down! This...

We spent two days of our last leg in Costa Rica here. after having being spoilt in other hotels, we were disappointed in this one. They didn't have our reservation, the toilet overflowed while we were at breakfast (the floor was under a cm of water when we walked in), there were no shelves or chairs - we asked for...

Nice private rooms with nice seeing ont the Arenal Lake ! Many birds around, and the managers are very nice ! The only problem is the road to El Castillo...8km of bumping ! But it's usual in Costa Rica and it would be fix on march 2013 ...Restaurant is nice and a lot of typical meal !

We loved this out-of-the-way little hotel on a hill. It looks directly at Volcan Arenal, though we only got glimpses in the December weather. The staff and especially the director, Eduardo, were friendly and we felt we were being welcomed into their home place, not just tourists but guests. The food was terrific, the free breakfasts ample and varied (from...

The cabins and superior rooms overlook Arenal Volcano, a lush river valley with many birds, and, in the distance, Lake Arenal. The rooms are simple but comfortable, with picture windows facing the volcano. Restaurant breakfasts (included) and dinners ($8-10) were generous and service was prompt and attentive. Hot water was not a problem. Eduardo, the manager, gave helpful advice about...

We stayed at Cabins El CAstillo last september. The room price was 50$ with breafast. Since we arrived very tired to El CAstillo, we decided to have dinner on site. The restaurant is over-priced and the quality is bad. Servings are small and service is slow. We had dinner and went to the room. There was no hot water in...
