The location, the people were awesome. The innkeeper did not speak English - but she was willing to try a translator tool with me. She had a lovely, welcoming energy. The dinner was great and the late hour worked for us. The continental breakfast was fine. The room was very clean including the bathroom. I wish there were a room air-conditioner as the temperature was 108F (!) outside smile - but she was very kind to give us a floor fan. The WiFi worked from one of the shared lounge areas. No TV but - who needs it with That view! ANY room would be fine as the best view is from the shared balcony on the 2nd level. She was so gracious - she let us take a photo from her own terrace! If you go to Tavertet - use Google Maps and input Casa Virupa to get to the most amazing promontory (in fact - check out a 3D look before you go) - you travel in your car along a (safe) cliffside road ... once you pass the retreat center - drive to the left about 1/4 mile ... there are lookouts. You can see a church steeple that shows when the Sau reservoir is low. They flooded the valley to create the reservoir.

This was a real gem that I found by chance when searching for places to base myself for a couple of days walking in the Pyrenees. The views were stunning, plenty of different walking routes, the host was very attentive and both breakfast and dinner were very good. The village is extremely remote but it is up a mountain!!! The other option in the area is probably Rupit which is much bigger and has a greater range of facilities - but it’s in a valley so you don’t get the same views - stay in one and walk/ drive to the other

Wow! Never have I stayed anywhere with such amazing views (from some rooms, from the terraces and the communal rooms). The village is pretty, and is perched on a saddle in the midst of the table top mountains. You need a head for heights - or just don't look down. We were on a horse riding trail on a soaking wet Spring day and the log fire welcomed us in and dried us off. The atmosphere of this small hotel was wonderful. The owners really cared and gave great service. The food was tasty and well-judged - ask for the boar stew. I would love to return. I think it is a place you could happily use as a touring base, though sadly we only got one day there. There are lovely walks and tracks all around for walking, riding and cycling. At sun rise walk to the viewpoint (turn left out of the hotel door and walk to the edge of the village) and watch the cliffs turn rosey red while drinking in the view.

The ambience was brilliant, with the rustic walls and common dining and lounge areas well decorated and homely. The double bedroom was large and comfy. Food was fantastic and the 3 course dinner not only great value but really delicious. The only slight quibble was that the bathroom could have been a tad cleaner, but it was acceptable.

We were a party of 8 for a long weekend in Taveret, what a stunning location with cloud inversion most mornings when we woke up. Exemplary food is cooked by the owner with a good choice to suit everyone.Breakfast is ham, toast eggs and cheese. We would have liked some cereal but what was on offer was really nice. Great location to do some lovely walks and we visited the town of Rupit which is well worth it. You have to make the effort to visit this fabulous location. Thank you for looking after us all and to Cecily for organizing this trip.
