We only stayed one night, so perhaps we would have been given a more thorough tour and explanation of the area had we been staying longer, but the accomodations themselves were good. The air did not work great in any of the rooms, but I chalk that up to being an American in Europe. It is set in a very quiet area and we arrived in the evening - so it would have been nice to be given an overview of what common areas in the hotel we could use to entertain ourselves. We found them later on while roaming the hallways with our bored kids - a cute game room, some outdoor seating areas, and some paths to walk. Wish we would have been shown these earlier. I see in some reviews there was apparently an outdoor playground. We never found it. We were a party of 7 - 2 grandmoms, us parents, and three children. So it isn't as though he was unaware that we had kids with us. We did, however, ask for a place to get dinner and the recommendation was awesome! The next day upon check out, we asked about a caseficio in the area - the man at the front basically handed us to brochures and said "but its summer holiday so they may not be open". No offer to call for us and pretty much seemed to just want to get out us of his hair. The breakfast staff were friendly and the breakfast was good. The caseficio he gave us the brochure for was closed after all - we found out the hard way by driving there. Overall, decent rooms, but mediocre customer service. Could have been due to a language barrier - and I will say that the price was very inexpensive. Perhaps there is also a dose of getting what you pay for.

Sanvitale Clean and beautiful rooms. Found in a castle courtyard the setting is stunning. Beautifully designed rooms with amazing features, coffee machine and bathroom all very good. Sadly our welcome was non existent and this really affected our stay. We arrived on a Sunday, when a huge market and festival was going on outside the hotel. We had received an email stating the time reception would be open. We planned our day around this and arrived when the reception was due to be open between 3-9pm. Sadly no one was there... Our keys were on the desk to collect, but no idea about where we could park our go for food that evening. It simply felt odd arriving and going to your room without speaking to anyone. We did find free parking but it was 300 metres away, not great with luggage. The booking said a free welcome drink... We didn't get that, but all we needed was a human being to welcome is and give us some guidance with parking and our two night stay a basic of customer service. Staff at breakfast were ok. The first day she was very grumpy and unfriendly. The second morning the lady was more friendly but no offer of a second coffee or if we needed anything else. We don't speak much Italian... But a smile guys a long way in any language. Cleaning was perfect... The rooms are lovely and we cannot fault that. We got room 203 which is directly above the breakfast room. Quiet for most of the day, however breakfast starts at 7am and it's noisy so don't expect to sleep in! Location is 25 mins from Parma and in a quiet town. We enjoyed it, however we wished we had more contact from staff. It feels like they don't want to spend the money on staff and expect guests to look after themselves!

I was really impressed with everything at this hotel. Exceptional value for money - €75 per night for a triple room including breakfast. The room was large, everything was new and impeccably clean. The lady at reception was very friendly and check in was quick and easy. I booked via email, received written confirmation and a WhatsApp message on the morning of arrival to confirm our check-in time. There were lots of clever inclusions to make for a comfortable stay - insect screens on the window, a small drinks fridge in the room, Bose sound system, free wifi and lots of (approx. 8) USB charging points in the room. Also an oversize king bed. A cool water fountain in the corridor and a 'relax' room complete with lounges, books and a few games for children too. Checkout is 11am, plenty of free parking and the hotel is walking distance to an excellent pizzeria and gelateria. If you're travelling with kids there's a really impressive public playground right next door too - with a flying fox, swings, pirate ship etc etc. Lots of open space to for kids to run as well which is priceless when you're travelling and sightseeing. The breakfast was excellent and caters for all tastes. A full selection of cold meats, eggs, breads and also sweet brioche, cake, cereal, yoghurt and fresh fruit salad. I highly recommend staying here if you're travelling through the Parma region.

This is a small, quaint and charming place to stay. Only 15 minutes from Parma, quiet and peaceful. Easy walking distance to many great restaurants, or the bar across the way. Breakfast in the morning is most certainly worth the minimal cost, property, rooms are SPOTLESS!!! Don't hesitate in booking here, it is great!!
