Okay, full disclosure: I almost didn't stay due to the fact that ALL of the reviews are in Italian, making me wonder if it was more of a place for locals. But as a seasoned traveler of the Bel Paese, I couldn't ignore the great reviews, and I'm never afraid of getting off of the beaten path (if I were, I wouldn't find myself in Porto Cesareo to begin with). Of the 10 hotels I stayed in on my most recent trip to Italy, this one won, hands down, the award for BEST VALUE. I paid a low price (which almost frightened me away initially) and LOVED our accommodations. Our room was clean and modern. You wouldn't consider it luxurious, but think IKEA chic - nice furnishings, great environment (from outside the walls, it doesn't look like much, but enter the gate and it's like stepping into a beautiful, lush private garden). The owner, Simon, was very friendly and eager to please, and equally eager to try out his limited English on us. Very nice guy and very nice property. We felt safe, our space was clean and beautiful - my only regret is that we didn't stay longer. We had a rental car as I would expect most would staying in this location - so while it would be a hike to the beach on foot (though it could easily be done) it was about 2 minutes in the car, and then miles and miles of quiet, sandy beaches with clear, clean water. The beaches were much quieter than we expected in mid-June, though of course August would probably be a different story. I hope this review from a good 'ol Americano will convince you to try out Samana Bed - we're very glad we did.…
We stayed here for 2 nights and weren't expecting much (because of the low cost) but loved it! The rooms were spotless, cool and spacious and only a 2 min drive from the most beautiful beaches. The owners were fantastic and couldn't have been more welcoming. And the breakfast is great - lots of delicious ham, cheese and homemade cakes. All in all, excellent value for money! We would definitely recommend.
