The bathroom was almost as big as the room, which already was big. Everything clean and with well finished construction details. Location is good too. Very nice receptionists and pretty good buffet breakfast (see pics). We booked at the spa but they called us 5 minutes before the time to tell us it was unavailable (technical reasons they said). We were already wearing swimming suits and bathrobes so our deception was pretty big. Next day spa was still unavailable. They tried to charge the spa on our bill and give us spa passes for a future occasion, we refused that option and said that we won’t pay for a service they did not offer us, of course they finally agreed. There is an outdoor swimming pool but it was not available because we are in January.
Nestle in the mountains with views of the distant picos de Europa and charm galore in a town recently named one of the prettiest in Spain, this hotel is a perfect place to relax. Just walk around and enjoy the many old horreos and the well kept houses. Then there is love at the first sight. We had a room with views of the next mountain and a balcony to enjoy the stars in a clear summer night. The bathroom was confortable and the only drawback was the mold smell of the bed night stand. A sad problem in a humid land. The hotel personnel were friendly and helpful even though were preparing for next day's wedding which was little out of consonance with the charming quality place of the hotel. Indeed the artificial flowers seemed a little tacky. Probably what the guests chose and paid for. Strolling around town we met people sitting in their porches and invited us for some home made cider, as well as informed us about some local lore, the names of the mountains within sight, and the differences in construction of the many horreos in town, some of which past the original intent, had the lower part destined for personal use like garage or bicycles storage. There are quite nice hiking routes departing from the village…
Suite was very good. Excellent decoration and conditions. Hotel staff friendly and helpful. Already the employees of the restaurant did not find the same. The allocation of towels to the pool can be improved since it was very often not available.
The worst breakfast in Spain: 1) bottled juices (except orange) 2) only one type of eggs (cannot order an omelette or fried eggs or 2 min egg) 3) in the country known for cheese - one type of chemical sliced cheese 4) coffee machine in the corner with line of people waiting 5) one exhausted waiter is running around cleaning tables. He has no time to restock the table with food. Iberian jamon is gone every ten minutes and then the plate is empty for 20 minutes. On top of it ... access to jacuzzi is an additional 25 euro for 90 minutes.
We escaped from our rural casa to have a bit of luxury on the amazing terrace of this lovely hotel. On another night we ate in the restaurant; the food was excellent. But what made the hotel a pleasure was the friendly and really professional staff who made us feel very welcome.
