Booked this hotel because of its proximity to Homesteads Fort Hadrian's Wall. We were disappointed in it. It was very outdated in every way. A pub but no food....although they order us fish and chips delivered from a nearby village. it was just out there...More

This is a traditional and fairly basic country pub. The meals are also basic with limited choice and main courses only no starters or desserts. However the food is excellent! Home cooked, fresh and flavoursome. Incredible value at two meals for a tenner and children's...More

Great pub right on the cycle route, rooms dated but clean and roomy. Pub meals limited but at £10 for 2 meals sufficed. very friendly pub serving good selection of beers. great breakfast next morning to set off for next leg to south shields

This hotel & pub around about 3-4 miles south of Hadrian's Wall. if you are doing day trips by car it's a great place off the A69 and small side roads you will quickly learn. This is about 25 miles from Carlisle and in between...More

Today we had Sunday lunch at the Bowes hotel,the meal was excellent as you help yourself to vegetables mash potatoes etc, lovely friendly surroundings, will be going back soon, there's a great boot sale at Hexham just a few miles up the road as well

The answer is yes to both questions, there are plenty of taxis in either Haltwhistle or Hayden Bridge, Vindolanda is about 2 miles away and there is a Roman Wall bus leaves Haltwhistle Railway Station on a regular basis, the... More
