I was at the Bowes Hotel in Bardon Mill last night for a Christmas Dinner with work colleagues, it is a small family run Hotel and bar with a separate restaurant, the bar is very homely and the staff are very friendly, the restaurant is very nice with a real fireplace and very warm, the meal was excellent with plenty...

Had a lovely stay at The Bowes Hotel last night. The hosts Bev and Liam made us so welcome that we felt like family. The locals were friendly, the meals at the hotel were very tasty, the breakfast was fabulous. The room was clean and comfortable, and the mattress was perfect, many hotels let themselves down with uncomfortable mattresses. Can't...

We have used the Bowes recently for two family functions that has also involved booking most of the letting rooms available. Location Situated in beautiful countryside just off the A69 between Haydon Bridge and Haltwhistle, and deep in the heart of Roman Wall country. Drinks/food The drinks were reasonable priced i.e. £2.90 for a pint of lager. We had two...

We went for an evening meal last week. We were the only people in the restaurant. The staff were friendly but the meal wasn't good. We only had fish and chips but it was not properly hot and expensive for what it was.

We stayed here on the third night of our east bound Hadrians Cycleway route. The pub was right on the route which was a very good start. The service was excellent and very friendly. The food in the hotel (we had dinner and breakfast) was fantastic and we had a very pleasant evening having a few beverages in the bar,...

Went out for a drive in the countryside - soon as we got west of Newcastle, the clouds disappeared and the sun came out. We popped down to Bardon Mill to see the pottery place there, and remembered the pub next door that I have not visited for over 30 years. Given a nice welcome - the dog was welcomed...

The bar was excellent. Good beer, good pub food at good pub food prices and friendly locals all happy to see a dog! We had expected a family room as we travelled as friends not a couple, but were given a double by mistake. A single bed was put in but the room was so small to start with, this...

Had a good pub meal and drinks at the local pub in bardon mill. Best part was the free wifi internet. Did not seem as popular as I would have thought for the only local pub. Would suggest more range of wines. Locals who visited were friendly. The toilets free and clean.

We spent the evening at the Bowes to meet up with friends who were visiting the area. A A typical pub with pool table and a dart board, the staff were all extremely friendly and attentive. Lovely hand pulled beer was very nice indeed. We all agreed that the food was really good - especially at this price range. Two...

Fantastic atmosphere on entering the bar to locate my room for the night . The room was just what we wanted after a nice days cycle ride . The choice of beers was excellent ( more than I could work my way through ) as was the choice on the menu . The real ale was cask conditioned to perfection...
