I was getting desperate looking for accommodation since Surlat Another hotel was full but the owner very kindly rang and booked me into the last remaining room. And what a pleasant surprise it was. A bit too family friendly for me but the rooms were exceptional with a nice small balcony. Staff are also exceptionally friendly from reception to bar staff and restaurant staff. Food was great (why go into town) and unlike another reviewer, I was happy with my large steak. Breakfast spread was also very good My timetable only allowed a one night stop and I would have gladly stayed longer. Unlike me - book ahead to avoid disappointment.

Went for the first time today for lunch picking the menu of the day and it was absolutely disgusting. The steak was like and old boot, so tough I could not chew it, and had to leave it. The potatoes were half burnt and I found a hair on my plate. The waiter came to ask was the meal ok and I said no the steak was so tough I couldn't eat it and my partners steak was exactly the same. He went away and said he would tell the chef. We were not offered a replacement or any explanation. Why ask how the meal is, when you're the going to do anything about it when the meal is inedible? The bill arrived and I asked for a reduction as I didn't think it fair that I pay for steak I cannot eat. The waiter said he'd ask the manager then returned saying no. I asked to speak to the manager who was rude and arrogant. He refused to deduct any money. I would not recommend this place because of the extremely poor quality of food and bad management. The only thing I would say is the poor waiter was very professional.

The Auberge specializes in bus tourism - so for years we have avoided it. Our mistake. We were looking for an uncomplicated dinner, and found very professional service, extremely quick cuisine, and generous, well executed, tasty dishes. Ok, the restaurant is not the nicest interior decoration we have ever seen, much too functional and probably great when you are dealing with a bus of tourists who need breakfast. But the kitchen, the unstuffiness and friendliness of the staff more than made up for it. The Tournedos Rossini were very good, the Perigourdine salad generous and tasty. Deserts were imaginative and light. We will be back.

Revisited the restaurant of this Auberge after a gap of 2 years. We had the 19 Euro menu which was fantastic. Two amuse bouche of the highest quality in effect making it a 5 course meal. Two aperitifs and a bottle of Rose brought the total bill to 62 Euros. Amazing value. The Auberge hosts coach tours but don't let this put you off dining there as the coach guests are entertained in different dining area so casual guests are not overwhelmed by a large crowd. The dining room is a little dated in style but the quality of the meal more than compensates. If you're in the area you'll be missing a treat if you don't eat there!

We had been told "no need to make reservations at this time of the year" at the restaurant in Le Coux et Bigaroque by those in the know.We were turned away unceremoniously! So it's Friday night, 7.40pm where do we go? We drove in the direction of Belves and quickly came upon the Auberge and were greeted like they wanted to see us! We had a very good meal! Surprise amuse soup as a welcome followed by Scallops for Issy and Grenouille for me. My wife ordered the most succulent and tender cote de veal and I had the rack of lamb. My lamb was good but the veal was fantastic! Dessert ( shared) was a warm strawberry, cream, ice cream and sponge dish that was excellent! We'll we are going back because we had a great meal. It's out in the boonies but you must try it! The non-English speaking waiter was kind and attentive.
