Myself and my sister and niece and nephew from Canada recently stayed in The Hill Top View Bed and Breakfast. We had a wonderful experience in this beautiful and very clean and well organised home. Helen made us feel very welcome and nothing was too much trouble for her. She is an excellent cook and the breakfast was delicious. We would thoroughly recommend this B & B to anyone. Many thanks Helen for our wonderful stay and precious memories. Wishing you Paul and your family much happiness in the future. ( P.S. many thanks for your phone call the next day, much appreciated) Very best wishes, Tanya, Tracey, Stefan and Kristen x
Easy to find (opposite the school) and close to town, Hill Top is a very good B and B. The rooms are not fancy but very comfortable. Helen is very friendly and helpful while it's worth staying here just to hear Paul's accent and see the quirky figurines he so cleverly makes. Helen and Paul gave us good ideas on the "must-sees" in the area. Excellent and hearty breakfast set us up for the day.
Four cyclists on the Kingfisher Trail stayed with Helen and Paul in August. Helen's B&B is excellent in everyway! Rooms were clean and very comfortable and the breakfast superb. Thanks for everything!
I stayed with Helen and Paul for one night before going to Lough Derg. I really enjoyed my visit - as always - great welcome and a very comfortable room, especially the bed! Unfortunately I was unable to sample the breakfast due to starting the Lough Derg fast the following morning!! A special thanks to Helen for the lift out to the island. Hope to stay again next year!!
We've stayed with Helen and Paul at Hilltop on a number of occasions and have always found them to be extremely warm, kind and thoughtful people. Their good humour and down-to-earthness has always made our stay memorable. Helen's paintings and Paul's varied craftwork also enhance this lovely location. Nothing is ever a problem for this couple particularly the lovely breakfasts and on the one occasion that Helen was inavailable in the morning time, her son ably deputised and produced what had to be the most delicious and flavoursome scrambled eggs we've ever had the experience of eating! We look forward to our next visit! Margaret, Tony and li'l B.
I stayed with Helen for 1 night before going to Lough Derg. Helen epitomises a true Irish warm welcome. Helen is so friendly and free going but at same time affords you your own space and privacy. The perfect hostess Nothing seems to be any trouble for her. She makes you feel so welcome and relaxed as if you were in your own home and with your own family. She goes all out to ensure you have a great stay. The house is located is a beautiful setting which is very easy to find in Pettigo. The house is spacious and very well presented both inside and outside. Bedroom was so comfortable and great water pressure in the ensuite shower - brilliant after long drive from Dublin . There was a great selection and variety of choices for breakfast. Breakfast was substanial there was plenty of food and set me up for the day ahead. Just what I needed. Sincere thanks to Helen for all her kindness and hospitality…
Thank God for Helen and Paul O'Shea. We were driving from Belfast to Donegal town having hopped off the Stanraer/Belfast ferry. Mid-winter and the early night closed in. We drove through beautiful Pettigo and kept driving as we weren't far from Donegal but a sudden and very thick snow fall stopped us in our tracks. We went to back to Pettigo looking for a place to stay only to find that the pubs didn't run to accommodation and the two B&B's in town were closed for the winter. Terrific. But we knocked on the door of Hill Top View anyway. Helen said they were closed but she would ring the other B&B but no joy there. So Helen said she couldn't turn us away, gave us a glass of wine and bade us wait while she and Paul made up the beds. What great hosts they were. The rooms were lovely and clean and warm with beds that you thankfully sank into. En-suites had everything we needed and Helen cooked a wonderful full Irish breakfast the next morning.Even trusting us to head out to the fuel station to get cash in the morning was not an issue. And we had a very tasty light meal at the first pub on the left walking back into town (10 minutes) through snow. The drive into Donegal town in the morning was quick and easy although we passed a car that had come to grief off the slippery road overnight...but for Helen that might have been us. A lovely B&B offering wonderful hospitality, excellent accommodation and cheery, bright and oh so helpful owners. Do yourself a favour and stay here.…
Travelled to Ireland for first time to check my mother's birthplace, school etc. Helen was a perfect host. Room very comfortable and breakfast very good - nothing a problem. Respected our privacy & put us in contact with local with knowledge of my family. Walking distance from town & pubs for dinner, Great little village, pub made us very welcome Helen arranged a game of golf for us at Donegal Murvagh, sorted green fees and clubs and even took us to the course. Saved us a lot of Euros. Felt like we were leaving family after only 4 days Would definitely stay again if we return
Fantastic place! Stayed as was attending a family party in Pettigo. The B&B is perfect distance from the pubs and Helen is so friendly and accommodating. The beds were comfortable, the shower amazing pressure and the breakfasts were just what was needed.
