We had our usual family Christmas Day dinner at the Pier Hotel and had a wonderful time. We all felt extremely safe with the tables being well spaced apart. Everyone followed the rules especially the wearing of masks/shields. The food was excellent! Well done to Margaret, Rodney and ALL the hard working and friendly staff. God willing, hope to see you all next Christmas!
Went to Gorston to get away from a very busy Southwold for a well deserved rest. Left early as l wanted to enjoy a breakfast, then spent a few hours then lunch. Having been let down and dissapointed by my first attempt to get breakfast. I decided that l could not go far wrong with this hotel as l had attended a number of Masonic Dinners there. What a let down. Walked into the lounge/dinning area. Seemed closed, just a member of staff cleaning up a table outside. I waited for around 10 minutes, like a goast ship! Got to thinking its a hotel there must be someone staying. No one on reception the whole place was devide of life. I went for a walk returning to the dinning area etc. I took a seat and awaited service together with one other couple. Eventually a waiter in his 60s arived took an order from the other table and disappeared again. I waited for 10 minute and I was not acknowledged by anyone. So l went to search out a member of staff who had appeared behind the Bar. As l appoched her the waiter appeared. I explained that I had been waiting and where I was sat when he had previously ignored me. Only to be asked if l was a resident? I answered No l wasn't!! His reply, "well you should not have been sitting there as its for residence only" I had to ask the waiter where do I sit then? Otherwise he would have walked off again. I was shown to an area where I was allowed to eat. Due to social distancing there were only two tables and three high stools and tables. Totally unsuitable for a relaxing meal. I sat at the allocated table and the remaing table was then occupied by another couple. Distance between tables I estimate to have been no more than 5 feet, which is exceptable l know. Then l waited for about 15 minuets reading my paper and the waiter had disappeared back into the black hole once again. I had to go looking for a menu. A female member of staff said she would get some one to take my order. 12 minuets later still no waiter. So l left but noticing that there were only two Residents who were still sat there having eaten some time ago. This residence area is very big and has many tables so why is it that people can't use this area, it certainly would safer. Management take note.…
I stayed here just for one night but would of liked to stay longer. The room & hotel was very nice , a decent walk in shower with a fair sized room. I had prawn & crayfish salad starter it was very nice. But the fresh perfectly cooked cod n chips was just perfect. It was hot , very tasty and a good portion. It was faultless. Ive worked all over the UK and stayed in many Hotels & b&bs . This one id most certainly stay in again. The breakfast was good aswell and served hot. During these difficult times it was so nice to stay there. Welldone to all the staff.
Had a lovely stay for my birthday, lovely clean room and fab sea view .food was delicious and drinks reasonably priced good value. All staff were lovely, friendly and helpful . Covid rules in place so felt very safe .thank you to Hayley for my birthday surprise very much appreciated. Will be returning soon we hope .
We spent 3 nights in the sea view suite, the room was scrupulously clean and beautifully decorated. We had a very good breakfast each day, and had an above average meal in the evening, although we were told it was a temporary menu the choice was quite extensive served by staff that were not only efficient but helpful and friendly. We will be staying here again.
