I do not have a lot of experience with Tokyo hotels, but the reputation is they are very small. This was true to form and thus we were not surprised. But our only real disappointment was our room had no real view which was surprising given our 8th floor location. Having said that, the staff were uniformly friendly and helpful....

The hotel is spotless, in a great location for access to Asakusa sights and train connections. The staff were friendly and helpful. I booked and pre-paid through Agoda, which worked out well. There is a self-serve washer and dryer at reasonable cost. I found the instructions on their website on how to reach the hotel really helpful, as was the...

This is the second year in a row that we have chosen Hotel Hatago as our layover in Tokyo before heading onwards to Northern Japan (Tohoku). Asakusa is a great place to stay over as it's robust and not short of eateries. It is also where the famous Sensoji is. Hotel Hatago is 10 minutes walking distance to Sensoji and...

Cool hotel in mellow neighborhood of Tokyo. Plenty close to everything. And close to rail and subway. Great rooftop deck overlooking river and Tokyo sky tower. Great breakfast. Nice room. Laundry is self service. This was our first stop on a 2 week trip. Stayed here 4 nights and would stay there again.

It was a great pleasure to stay in Asakusa Hotel Hatago: friendly team, great location, small but comfortable room Japanese style. The perfection is in the detail: the river-view lounge and comfort in the room like a small fridge and tea kettle. Just one disadvantage: windows (at least in the room I stayed in) can not be opened.

We were debating where to stay in Tokyo, whether Asakusa, Shinjuku or Shibuya and with the madness and crowds of Shibuya, we were very glad for the charm and of the more traditional Asakusa. This neighborhood is away from the hustle and bustle but still close to bars, shops and restaurants. Despite arriving at 10pm there were a lot of...

Nice hotel, it is not a big hotel, but near station, and walking distance to Sensō-ji. It is one of the hotel can watch firework (The 2nd Firework place of Sumida River Fireworks Festival). It is really beautiful. I like it so much. Some staffs can speak in Mandarin, convenience for me (I am from Hong Kong).

Staying in Ueno, Asakusa

Neighbourhood Profile
Ueno, Asakusa
Traces of the history and culture of the Edo (old Tokyo) era remain vividly in Ueno and Asakusa. Spacious Ueno Park is a great place to relax and visit a variety of different museums and galleries. At Ameyoko which starts in front of Ueno station, the grocery stores and clothing shops are crammed alongside fishmongers. It gets particularly busy at the end of the year, when many people go on shopping sprees. The town of Asakusa, developed around Sensoji temple, has many shops selling goods and clothing from old Japan, making it a great place for souvenir hunting. It's also known for various annual festivals, and the whole district gets involved with the huge Sanja Festival in May.
