The whole family went to Tokyo for a wedding. There were 12 of us and we were looking for a nice and affordable place to stay. This hotel is the perfect hotel if you're not looking for the type of hotel that has good facilities like swimming pool, gym etc. We had plans to visit as many places as we...

The Candeo Hotel Ueno Park impressed me in many ways. The room rates are very reasonable for Tokyo relations. The decor of my hotel room was functional and the size was acceptable. A Yukata was provided by the hotel. The atmosphere is very pleasant, almost family, and the staff speak Japanese and English. The breakfast impresses with its richness. In...

This hotel offers me tranquility unlike other parts of tokyo. But i find the journey to hotel is inconvenient for commuters. The staircase at overhead bridge is so steep. If u hv to carry 2 luggages...u need to bring them up 1 by 1. Cemetry is just next to the platform. Lift up your head and you see tomb stone...

We were a little alarmed when we approached the hotel from the local station. However our minds were set at ease once we entered the hotel and met the really friendly staff. We had a large room on the 12th floor. The breakfasts were really good. As the station was only 3 mins walk away, it was easy to go...

We stayed here for 12 nights. The rooms are well maintained and very clean. Typical Japanese sized rooms so we knew what to expect and had no complaints. The rooms are amazingly quiet despite the fact there was a school group also staying at the hotel, we didn't hear anything. The only Cons of this hotel are that you use...

Great location and price. I was there for a whole week and I have no complaints. Of course the room is small but is something normal for Tokyo standards. Please was really clean and all the personnel was very kind but be patient when talking to them in english. I will come back one day!

I stayed the hotel for 3 nights two weeks ago. The first impression was nice because its location is really near the JR Uguisudani Station (Even Metro Iriya Station is not far away). The staff was friendly and space of the room was fair enough for 2 persons to stay with. However, when I opened the door, musty odor assaulted...

Candeo Hotel Ueno is in a very good location, only 5mins from Uguisudani JR Yamanote Line and a 15 minute walk to the Ueno area. Very easy to hop on a train and get to where you need to be. There is a large (and very cheap!) supermarket below the hotel and Family Mart/7-11 in easy walking distance. Check in...

Who ever said that Tokyo is so prohibitive and that the cheapest rooms are far from city centers has not heard of Candeo in Ueno. It is so close to a train station, an easy fifteen minute walk to the major Ueno park, zoo, museums and train station and best of all, straddled by lots of small eateries and convenience...

Staying in Ueno, Asakusa

Neighbourhood Profile
Ueno, Asakusa
Traces of the history and culture of the Edo (old Tokyo) era remain vividly in Ueno and Asakusa. Spacious Ueno Park is a great place to relax and visit a variety of different museums and galleries. At Ameyoko which starts in front of Ueno station, the grocery stores and clothing shops are crammed alongside fishmongers. It gets particularly busy at the end of the year, when many people go on shopping sprees. The town of Asakusa, developed around Sensoji temple, has many shops selling goods and clothing from old Japan, making it a great place for souvenir hunting. It's also known for various annual festivals, and the whole district gets involved with the huge Sanja Festival in May.
