The hotel is in a rundown looking area, sort of a red light zone. However, it is quite well placed with the station located directly behind it with access to the yamanote line. Ueno park is walking distance. The room was basic but fine. The bathroom smelled pretty fusty though. The breakfast was good and was worth it. However, I... More

The hotel is very accessible to train station, restaurants, groceries, and other shops. I love that the rooms are a little bit on the small size but everything you need has properly provided. Breakfast is awesome!

Modern hotel in a rather non-descript area. Very close to J-train bringing you to all main Tokyo attractions on the one circular line. Room, a twin, was OK size..a desk and two chairs and two small double beds( most doubles small in Japan and a double room smaller than twin so would recommend twin in the more budget and tourist... The family stayed there for a bout a week. Rooms are really small (apparently most rooms in Japan are) please make sure you check the area prior to booking your rooms to avoid disappointment. the best thing I like about this hotel its walking distance to the nearest metro, bus and train stations. Good restaurants along the street serving food... More

Excellently located right beside metro stop, and close to ueno park. We used this hotel as a base for sightseeing in Tokyo and would definitely recommend it. The staff were helpful, rooms well equipped and clean. Standard size hotel room! Breakfast buffet was excellent with fantastic choice. We would stay here again.

The whole family went to Tokyo for a wedding. There were 12 of us and we were looking for a nice and affordable place to stay. This hotel is the perfect hotel if you're not looking for the type of hotel that has good facilities like swimming pool, gym etc. We had plans to visit as many places as we... More

The Candeo Hotel Ueno Park impressed me in many ways. The room rates are very reasonable for Tokyo relations. The decor of my hotel room was functional and the size was acceptable. A Yukata was provided by the hotel. The atmosphere is very pleasant, almost family, and the staff speak Japanese and English. The breakfast impresses with its richness. In... More

This hotel offers me tranquility unlike other parts of tokyo. But i find the journey to hotel is inconvenient for commuters. The staircase at overhead bridge is so steep. If u hv to carry 2 luggages...u need to bring them up 1 by 1. Cemetry is just next to the platform. Lift up your head and you see tomb stone... More

We were a little alarmed when we approached the hotel from the local station. However our minds were set at ease once we entered the hotel and met the really friendly staff. We had a large room on the 12th floor. The breakfasts were really good. As the station was only 3 mins walk away, it was easy to go... More

Staying in Ueno, Asakusa

Neighbourhood Profile
Ueno, Asakusa
Traces of the history and culture of the Edo (old Tokyo) era remain vividly in Ueno and Asakusa. Spacious Ueno Park is a great place to relax and visit a variety of different museums and galleries. At Ameyoko which starts in front of Ueno station, the grocery stores and clothing shops are crammed alongside fishmongers. It gets particularly busy at the end of the year, when many people go on shopping sprees. The town of Asakusa, developed around Sensoji temple, has many shops selling goods and clothing from old Japan, making it a great place for souvenir hunting. It's also known for various annual festivals, and the whole district gets involved with the huge Sanja Festival in May.
