2nd time visit this hotel since last 2 years. All staffs(Front, housekeeping) offer good service and confirmed that this hotel located in perfect location in Ueno. Shops, restaurants, mini mart, train stations are around the hotel. Room and bathroom are small but clean with needed amenities. My comment stay this time is the pillow and bed are not comfortable.
Bit late with this review - but stayed here for one night in September upon arriving in Tokyo for a 2 week stay. We were unable to check in as we arrived there at 6.00am. They had two parcels ready for me, tickets for one of our stays and a Japan portable wifi. The staff at reception were lovely and very helpful with leaving our bags securely locked in a room until our return. We decided to explore Ueno Park, which was really worth the visit. Plenty of temples and things to see. The room was to be expected for Japan sizes, with a bed against the wall. The bed was very comfortable, room was clean and bathroom was ample with a fairly large bath. Inclusions in room were kettle, tea, coffee, adaptors for phones etc, trouser press, face steamer, Shiseido skincare amenities, slippers, hair straightener, free water, TV and a large desk. We did not have breakfast there, although it was included in our rate as we had to leave prior to the restaurant opening. The hotel is close to supermarkets, restaurants and an easy walk to both Ueno station for shinkansen and Ameyoko Street for shopping and food. Great place to stay and although the area is busy and lively, our room was very quiet. We would stay here again.…
Only stayed here 1 night before we flew out of Tokyo. No qualms at all really. The only thing being that no rental smart phone was provided like 2 other hotels we stayed at in Japan. Otherwise service was excellent, hotel was clean, very comfy for sleeping, and the A/C worked great (very quiet too). Location is just excellent to get to other areas in town. Ueno is a large transport hub with many options. It was super easy for us to get to Tokyo station and the airport from here - especially with a JR pass.
I lost my wallet on 24Sep19. Another hotel(not this one) which I had already book said nothing and left me with my 2 big luggage in the midnight in Ueno!! Then I told my friend to book this hotel(Mitsui Garden Hotel Ueno) for me. I entered the hotel at 2AM and the staffs are very nice. They calm down me and said they would call to JR offiice(which I had already contact for lost & found) in the morning. I woke up at around 11.15AM, I quickly went to lobby for check out. And they said that they had already contact to JR office and found a wallet which similar to mine. After checking out, I went to JR office and received my wallet back. I am so thankful to the Mitsui Garden Hotel Ueno for helping me so much and warm-welcoming people who just lost his mind like me. Next time if I go to Tokyo, I will stay at this hotel again Thank you so much!! ありがとうございました!! Ps. btw the accommodation is very good and clean. Nevertheless, the location is really really good, the hotel is just 2-5 min. walking from JR or subway (Ueno station).…
You can't beat the location and value for what you are paying for at Mitsui Garden Ueno. I love that it's a short walk from Ueno station (which also includes the Shinkansen lines) as well as the Keisei. Not to mention nearby Ameyayokocho, several department stores and of course, Ueno Zoo and park. Unlike other business hotels in Japan, the rooms aren't particularly tiny like you may be use to. There is still room to full open your suitecase and unpack, not to mention just some living space. I've stayed here twice before and will plan on staying again in the future.
Typical hotel in Tokyo is you get small room most of the time. My experience to stay at this hotel is actually good, location is really at best, nearby to the center of attraction at Ueno area. Hotel was really clean, efficient. The downside, the rate is pricey, we can get way much better hotel in other city, but it is Tokyo :-). The room is small yet it is very clean. The bed and pillow are slightly hard. Also we paid for breakfast one of the day, it was good breakfast with a lot of choice. It was a good experience though, not a complaint. But with tghe price we paid it should be better than this.
4 star hotel. Near subway station. Eateries are nearby. Groceries are located in the station. Thus you can buy some breakfast at the supermarket before returning to the hotel. Room size good for couple. Can visit the next time.
Located just a few minutes away from the UENO station (take the pedestrian bridge). The staff is good and can speak rather good English. The rooms are tiny but still bigger than most of the rooms in this area. There is unfortunately no air conditioning but aside from this it was a great stay.
Based on location it’s a great place. Easy to access from Ueno main station or Skyliner from Narita even with suitcases. 3-4 minute walk. Rooms smallish - but standard for Japan. But clean and an efficient service all round. The hotel is in the heart of lively Ueno with cafes, bars, good restaurants and a shopping mall nearby and easy access to central Tokyo and Shibuya on Ginza line Recommended!
Chose hotel based on location to Skyliner and Shinkansen leaving Ueno station. Easy to get to hotel on foot either walking on the footpath or elevated walkway (lifts for suitcases). Stayed a total of 5 nights at hotel. Ideally we would have preferred a double room, but advice of travel agent recommended the twin room as the room size is larger. We didn't want a Queen bed against a wall. Room size was compact despite being 22 m2. Not really enough room for 2 suitcases and associated other bags. Breakfast every day - had a very wide variety of foods available, mainly Japanese but cereal / juice / fruit and croissants available (no toast). Was an introduction to Japanese breakfasts which we found very pleasant. Tasty miso soup. Breakfast area was busy but we never had to wait to be seated. Shower over bath. Vending machine closeby stocking a wide variety of drinks, including beer (a good way to use up change at the end of each day). Check-in and check-out prompt - English language is no problem at all.…
